I was in a tourny game.. and my opponent turned up and we were playing.. then i was on about 40 and he decided to leave... and normally you can carry on with your break but this time it said :
Non Attendance Punishment - yoyoyo goes through on a bye, when he was attending but decided to leave!

Right, i no its annoying and spinner explained a while back that this was to make sure you didn't get a DQ in the tourny to sum up what he said.

so basically if you don't want someone to get a half but he's basically beaten you, you should just leave the game? :P

no it should'nt work like that, i mean myself, ste_efc and others all have been on for a max in a tourney game and our opponent left straight away. Like damee said its to stop you getting DQ, annoying yes, anything they can do about it no... unless you want to get DQ

because while your trying for a high break, the next round starts and your still classed as being in a game.

There are two possible work-arounds for this, but i can't see either being accepted :
* Play on for the break, but get DQ'd from the tourney. (but how often do you actually get a 147?)
* Play on building the break, but when the round ends, anyone active in a game, but with no opponent in the room (and therefore on a break) goes through. (but thats pretty much how it is now, unless its a very quick break!)

i have actually noticed that you don't get the bye if you already have a break over 50 and it lets you continue

It doesnt sean, it's cost me a fair few cents.
Right, i remember that before you could continue with a break after the opponent left, Nick added something that maent you couldn't leave the game on your opponents shot, without clicking the X in the top right hand corner of your screen, instead there was a system notice.
I reckon by reintroducing this into tournament games, it would cut the amount of people leaving games early.
Afterall, the system notice was scrapped when you could continue with your break after the opponent has left, but in tournament games you can't really continue with your break can you?
So instead of trying to find a solution to what happens after a person leaves, why not aim to cut down the root cause of the problem by limiting he amount of people that quit!
Hope thats clear...

This is soo annoying, at one time in a tourny match i lined up my black for a 105 then it comes up i have a bye! This has happened about 5 times all happen to be on a century. Am sure this is on nick's "to do" list.

oh, and as we speak i get a bye when i was on 56, fortunaly a 100 wasn't on but still i don't even get credit for my 50 break. Also more annoying is that the round is far from over as well, no matter what admin try and say it is nothing to do with not getting DQ'd as i was in no danger of being so... NEEDS SORTING!!!
Oh and if nothing else, the non-attendence punishment rubbish that it comes up with needs changing cos he DID attend.
Rant over but please stop dismissing it as correct.

Ah, but it is correct as things stand now.
You opponent was punished for non-attendance, since he did not attend the whole frame. Just as any player would be if they walked out on a real life timed match.
A couple of solutions were posted above, but both have their drawbacks.
I think its vital to remember that when you enter a tournament, the object is to win the frame to advance. If you feel your priority lies with achieveing high breaks, clearly it would be best to avoid tournament games.

If i go to a party, and leave early, it wouldn't be considered as none-attendence would it ...
Out of interest, how does the game work out when its going to give out the byes, cos it wasn;t straight after he left, or when the round was complete...

It would if you were a player in the band..
Not sure on tha one, but logic says it would be when that part of the bracket was full, or not, if someone wasn't there..
Hmmm. Not easy to explain what i mean there
