How about this idea when some1 gets a random shot instead of the system now where it just cains it round the table i was thinking that it sould come up with an option 4 the other player to play on from where the bal lies as many times it has been in a good position and had a random shot any thoughts?

I don't like the idea. The random shot has this big advantage that you're still playing like against a real player, and not with yourself.

Also, maybe this would be exploited by players, who notice their opponent really left, to set themselves up.

i think that the system should make sure that a player can't profit from a random shot, even if a ball is potted, the other player should get to carry on from where the balls end up.

Why shouldn't a player profit from a random shot?

After all, thats what random is, and it's not necessarily the players fault, random shots can happen for any number of reasons.

The chances of a random shot working out better than if they had played the shot themselves is extremely slim, so they have already incurred a penalty as it is.

well i got a brilliant snooker the other day, after a random shot the player managed not only to hit the red, but pot it. Even a slim chance of proffiting from it is to high IMO.
