Sometimes when you take a shot, the power is much weaker than you expect, and this is referred to by some people as lag.

It only occurs to some people. However I'm trying to investigate, and have knocked up some demos.

They're pool demos, I'm afraid, but the code is used for both snooker and pool.

Can you play each one for a while and give me some feedback? This could help gameplay improve for you.

1 - seems ok
2 - seems like i need to put a little more power behind shots
3 - got *lag* on 1st shot

This was only after a few minutes and about 20 different types of shots on each one.

Just had a quick look at http://poolgame.co.uk because im nosey are you making a all in one site?

yea, 1 and 2 seems ok to me. 3 isnt that bad however 1 and 2 play better i think. maybe i dont know enough about lag, but there are no adverts on those links, surely that reduces lag so it will be better anyway?

Having played them for a while...

I find option one the most playable, and enjoyable. I prefer the 'sped up' look on it (*hopes he's right*)... and believe it works best.

I think that's actually the original website. As in the original pool game website before snooker etc.

It was before my time but I know the set-up was originally called 'Pool Sharks', which it says in the top left corner, and I seem to remember going on http://poolgame.co.uk a while ago and it was exactly the same

Poolgame was the first site I created before moving to funkypool.

Can you describe what happened when the lag occurred redrebellion? If it happens again can you take a look at the console (right click the Java icon on your systray and click open console). Some debug info should show for option 3.

It only happened on the first shot, and i went to break off and it was like it was sticking, so the ball only moved forward a inch, It was just that one shot and could easily of been my computer i'll see if it happens again and ill check the debug info if it does

I think it due to the web browser personally, as i used to get a lot on ie7 but a lot less (if any) on opera.

But i tried all 3..

1) Lagging a bit
2) negative lag (lot more power than what i wanted constantly)
3) No problem at all.

(did these in ie7 though)

Oh and nick, how come you didn't include this demo one?

That was to test something different, the animation.

I made a slight change to the 4th demo to add:

Number 5 is perfetly fine nick. Every shot seemed to be really smooth, and could also to very small power shots. which i was unable to do before. Whatever the slight change was has helped :)

Great, I'm hoping option 5 will be as good as before for everyone, and improve it for the few who suffer.
