I was in the pub yesterday and i come across some young lad of 20 (my step dads mate) who has just come over from Australia to visit his family, i got speaking to him after a few drinks and stuff so i asked him whats his trade and surprisingly he said Joinery so i said I'm in my second year now studying Joinery and he said "yano what mate if i was you I'd finish your second year what your currently in now and get your NVQ level 2 and come over with me, ill sort you out with a place to stay" i was shocked and excited at the same time (like you would!!). About 30 minutes ago he phoned me up and said "when i get home ill give you this website to get a 12 month visa off".

So as far as am concerned am heading to Australia come May, (thats if i pass my second year of course).

He lives in Berth (i think) i created this thread for your views on Australia, have you ever been? Were about? What was it like? Did you enjoy it?

Personally iv always wanted to move to Australia since i was young, hopefully this is my chance

The title does some it up tho, it really would be a luxury place to live! The lad who "I'm supposed" to be going with said its great but takes time getting used to the life style, its such a change! Also you need to prepared to work in the sizzling heat.

Huh? If you mean the visa is only a for a year, you can apply for your second workers holiday whilst your over in Australia, but needs the company your working 4's permission and stuff.

I've been to oz twice... to Perth (where you're going), Sydney and Brisbane... the weather is at sometimes unbearably hot, you won't find fosters any where funnily enough lol, there are a lot of 'fit girls' for you Ste and there is loads to do! Especially if you are near the coast.

Both times I went, it was only for a month... but it was fantastic!

Nice to hear Josh .

My mate went to visit a friend 3-4 years back hes 18 now, and he said that the weather is that hot he had to wear a jumper in the night cause it was freezing, but it was only like that cause he was so used to the hotness in the afternoon, but their night time is most probably as hot as our summer haha!

You really do get around Josh haha, so its Zante, Australia 3 times!!! Liverpool once or twice, prob a lot more places as well!!! lol

You probably have a seriously well paid job tho .

GADAY!!??

Johnnydollar by the way was saying if your only staying in Australia for a year then go for it, as that isn't such a commitment, if it is for a few years i would also say the same, but if it's a long term thing then you would need to consider it properly, I reckon if at all possible, you should go for 2 weeks in order to see if it's for you. (assuming you've never been before), because I doubt its exactly like home and away and neighbours

Think of what your leaving behind, and if it's better or worse than what you'll be going to.

Goi Goi,

If you are in Cairns, travel up north a bit by car if you can, places called Airlie Beach, Mission Beach, Magnetic Island and loads of other great places up that way, I eventually headed towards Cape Tribulation then went on a 3 day cruise around the Whitsunday Islands, it was amazing, i didnt want to go in the Sea though cos im terrified of sharks so I stayed on the boat the whole 3 days, I was swaying from side to side for 2 days even after I got off it.
