And he has made 3 posts by the way, so it is easy to criticise, yes he swore, but he also made sense. It's easy for everyone to have a pop, especially after a few mods have, but just "your gona lose your posting rights" is a worse comment than his, at least he was making an opinion. Show a bit of personal thought people!

There is absolutley no excuse for blatantly ignoring the forum rules, no matter of its your first post, or your last. Indeed doing so has made both of those the same for quite a few users.

Moving on from that, there is the simple fact, already repeated, that even if it's only by 1% (against a newbie who has played 99 games) you will lose fewer points that losing against a regular member of the same rank.

Therefore the initial argument is nonsensical, as for rank purposes you are better off losing to a newbie.

To take point no 2 of the previous post - who creates a game is totally irrelevant. The player who does not wish to play should move on.

Most fundimentaly of all, however, is that when you are at the table, the ability, rank, and moniker of your opponent have no impact whatsomever on whether you win or lose.

So, far from ignoring this issue, it is one which has been considered and accomodated from the word go in the newbie adjustment, and if playing people with certain names, shoe sizes or taste in cats bothers you, you can always check their profile before entering the game

Well when looking at rank, the whole ranking system is set up to be fair, no matter who you play, be it newbie, novice, intermediate, adept, pro or virtuoso, so if we have a system in place to prevent low/medium/high ranked players from entering a certain room, then why not have a system in place to prevent newbies????

I think a valid suggestion has been raised here. Rather than being classed as a newbie for the first 100 games after reset why can't players be identified as something else, (resetter) for example.

Resetters don't bother me in the slightest personally (used to do it regularly myself!) but this issue has been raised on a number of occasions and this small change could end it for good.

Tottaly agree with mike, putting a certian rank is discriminating against the other ranks, and a newbie button is exactly the same thing, so why is one allowed and the other isn't?

Having the option not to allow newbies into a games sort of defeats the whole point.

I mean, quite a lot of people would 'block' the newbies even if it was not set by default and how fair would that be? People who sign up to the site should have the full privilege that comes with membership, which includes access to any game they want.

This problem has been raised a lot and most have learned to deal with it.

Oh and heres a tip: when a newbie enters a room they usually have (newbie) next to the username which kinda gives their identity away a tad, but being a non-newbie i guess you knew that already.

Well maybe last evening in the heat of the rage I misworded my point but now that someone has identified the point I was making it seems to have turned the whole thing around.
Ok maybe I was wrong to blast out about the whole newbie thing but maybe something next to their name that indicates them as a resetter would be better. Then maybe an option to allow newbies or resetters, I dont know.
But on the whole idea of vetting a person to look at their history would take too long. If I created a game and a newbie joined, I would under a number of peoples suggestion, go to look at the history of the player, only to find myself in the game because the process took too long and I have to play regardless of wanting to or not.
IMO I think the boot button would be a valuable addition to the site and would stop any problem of anyone being bullied or harrassed into leaving their tables or whatever. It works on other sites so why not here?

Yes, it does take a bit to see if they are reset, as after 30 seconds the game starts automatically without you doing anything.

A simple non newbie button will stop all this fuss, and i know most people will play anyone so not many will use the button but its worth putting in.

Most of the set ranks games are high and don't let lower rank players in. You could also say that the not so good players are getting put down by not being let into certian games. So what's the difference between them and newbies? Not much at all.

That should be the case or "reset newbie" or RM for short, makes it easier to know lol.

yeah lol well with my theory i suppose you could only reset after 100 games because somone could reset after one game to get rid of the newbie status

well tbh ive reset my stats and i played iamtheworst.. and he was an ex pro/virt, soo as you can imagine i basically thought i was going to get whooped, but i won. I think its more psychological, when you see a player that has played 800 games for example and you have only played 40 it makes you nervous about playing them, well it does for me. But yeah, i dont think its fair when they reset and then go abck to 'newbie' as it misleads players which i reckon is unfair as you loose severe amount of points!

You only loose about 20% of ranking points if you play newbies, so what are you complaining about? I know its funny to see a newbie clear the table, but the best way to pay him back is to clear the table in the next frame.

By the way, when I started to play funkysnooker I practised a LOT before playing my first games. So some people complained that I wasent realy a newbie, and that I had reset my stats. How can you be sure they havent done the same?

That's true, they could have played as a guest for games before they got their first account, but generally you just don't know.
