Not so much a question aimed at anyone, but more of a general "what do people think?" type thing.
Personally I think that regualar is better, but i was wondering what everyone else thought- Original has almost fallen clean off the map of late- is is a dying game, or simply being replaced by the slightly easier regular?
Or is it just a case of the balls not being big enough to survive the Regular Revolution? (potential edit, anyone? lol)

I don't feel its killed Original at all. There are more games at night time now on Original than there ever were. Not so long ago, you wouldn't be able to get a game on Original at this time at all.
A lot of the people who play Regular now are those that got bored with Arcade, but found Original too difficult. Many of the people who primarily played Original before Regular was introduced, still do.

From a personal point of view I think regular has actually helped original. I believe regular is a stepping stone between arcade and original and I now find it much 'easier' to play original.

i agree with dave and alex, original is stronger than ever before and regular has helped original because people have started to play it more.

I also agree with Alex and Dave, for me original has become easier due to regular. There isn't much difference ball size so that helps me. Not that i play it but i still see quite a few people entering tournaments and getting good breaks, so it's OK at the moment

I agree with all of the above: Original has not suffered from the new Regular game type.
Being myself an pure original player, I can say that the impact Regular has had on my playing experience is fully positive. I indeed started to play Regular as well, because it's still a good simulation game; as a result, I find much more often an opponent than before, because I pick games not only from Original, but also from Regular! And globally, I see about as many Regular games than Original.

I don't see any difference in original games at the moment, however i do seeing original becoming a lot bigger in the future, as people will want to move for a bit more of a challenge and original will be there and regular has made the step smaller.

Same here in my experience and, as damee says, I'm sure it will encourage more people to migrate to proper (oops I meant Original) snooker.

Agree with everything said above. My big plan is to move from regular to original, but i'm not planning on taking the step just yet

I've played original much more sinceregular was introduced. I've had an 84 break and many 40s which weren't so rare before regular but i didn't get them as often as I do now.

Regular killed original? Yeah right.. Regular is the same as arcade; only it's played with 15 reds instead of 10. They are both cute games but they hardly look like snooker.
..Maybe it has made arcade less popular, since arcaders are playing regular more now, but original players remain original players!

regular is good example if someone is good at one or the other but cant get the hang of the other one so it is not killing it

sometimes the only way to get better at original is to practice original, it took me 3 days of original to get good again
If you are good at regular then your halfway home and you just need to push yourself a little more and practice original to unlock your full potential

One could turn around your argument quite easily. The fact original is 'harder' means it is easier for the better players because if they have mastered it then there will be a big difference between them and the rest of the players. Conversely as regular is 'easier' more people will be able to master the game and therefore games will be a lot closer.

mate there is no point posting on a thread that has died for 5 months.
and original is more popular now since the snooker world championships. It just takes practice and more time to aim on shots. think of arcade but smaller balls and smaller pockets.
