As i see it, its very rare this happens, only once in my FS playing career i have seen this (well, done this) so IMO i don't see it being a massive problem.

Hmmm well iv seen it quite often, particularly when i was learning the ropes it was a very common thing to see or do.

My point was that it doesn't bother me, i know its not the "real rules", but neither is it possible to screw back when your cue ball rests on the cushion.

And a perfectly valid opinion it is too damee, but to be honest, I don't think that anybody is suggesting that it is a massive problem - only that it is a bit niggling to some people who would like to see the rule implemented at some stage if it is at all possible. The fact that you haven't seen this often is obviously because you are usually so far ahead the situation never arises but I'm sure that were that ever to change you might take a slightly different view.

And pieceofpig, you can get screw with white tied on cush, just raise butt of cue, even i can do that lol.

No you cant cos the bottom of the ball is hidden by the cush... pros can't do that, they play run throughs instead.

what? you cant get screw with the ball tight on cusion? or have i been missing out on some remarckable cueing action?

Raise the butt off the cue, hit down on the ball and it screws back. Simple as that.

If the cue ball is tight to a cushion you cannot screw back... that is just a fact, you might be able to stun it, but you can't screw it back, at least not more than a few inches.

Can't believe am having this discussion... it seems obvious to me, show me a clip of a pro doing it and i'll take it all back.

lol yes iam in the same boat. if you can strike down you perhaps get some energy into it, but you certainly wouldnt be able to get deep screw like you can on here.
