rules of snooker m8
once there is a foul on the black (whenever it is the only remaining object ball), the game is over
why do you think ref calls game in snooker when only black is left and a player is 8 points or more in front
once there is a foul, game is automatically over therefore there is no way back.
(pool????? thats not a rule in pool m8!!!)

1. Frame
A frame of snooker comprises the period of the play from the first stroke, with all the balls set as described in Section 3 Rule 2, until the frame is completed by:
(a) concession by any player during his turn,
(b) claim by the striker when only the Black remains and there is more than seven points difference between the scores in his favour,
(c) the final pot or foul when only the Black remains, or
(d) being awarded by the referee under Section 3 Rule 14(c) or Section 4 Rule
I didn't know that..
From World Snooker website.
The only thing I can think of as to why it isn't implemented is that the server can't tell when only the black ball remains.

Hmmm, given that it knows when none remain (ie the end of the game) and that at least 12 points are required from snookers (in tournaments), I don't think that it is beyond the realms of posibility that it can know when it is only the black remaining. There may be other factors of course that we are unaware of.
Must admit that this has persistantly bugged me since I joined and I'm sure it has been mentioned before.
I would love to have this implemented if possible.

I must admit, however, that I have, in the past, won frames because it isn't implemented

Yep, if the black is the only remaining object ball and there is a foul, the game is over.

I think this only happens on Pool.
If thier is a foul on the black and the opponent can come back the black is Respotted.
But if the opponent cannot come back the game automatically ends.
Thats what i think anyway

I don't think its a big problem, thats the only ball left, doesn't take much to get rid of it.

Simple solution, don't go for the black when you know there is a chance of fouling. Simple.

Then if the pot is risky don't play it and make sure you don't foul.

but surely if you are on a big break, the lack of proper rules shouldnt stop u from attempting to finish it off!!!!

rather than trying to make an idiot out of someone who is ONLY ASKING why the proper rules of snooker are not adhered to, just answer the query!!!!!
if it cant be done then it cant be done - but if this just basic of rule can be added to the game then why not add it
would I still be getting replies like the above regarding free balls etc etc
really disappointed that the response is - dont try and pot it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think anybody intentionally fouls on the black but it is a funny old world and occasionally it has been known for people to actually make a mistake once in a while. Of course the simplest solution is always to clear from the break and then situation will never arise.
Meanwhile, back in my reality, there are other issues to consider, like for instance people who may be 8 points behind in a speed tournament constantly playing safe on the black in the hopes of either a) the other player making a foul or b) getting a double DQ
Edit: you were posting whilst I was composing this post merv and I've just noticed your comments ... I couldn't agree more

i know its wrong but i like it the way it is. when im 8 points behind i always try and snooker opponent with the cue ball in the jaw. hard to do but its very fun

13:30 Sun 8 Mar 09 (GMT) [Link] but not the rules m8 - as soon as there is a foul on black the game is over - so if u r 8 behind and your opponent fouls - game over and u still lose by 1 point - rules are rules m8

Its true, in a respot, when theres a foul so there is a 7 point gap, the game ends, despite there being a chance of a re-respot.
