Again, 26 points ahead with only pink and black on table chucked out of tourney because of time limit
is this called funky snooker or fast snooker
really annoyed that someone who just lets their timebank expire to 1 sec and then play a tippy tappy shot (after 1 min warning) to leave a ball unpottable prevents another player from progressing
with all the other changes that have been made, surely it is easy enough to let a player who was winning, but playing an idiot progress to the next round
THIS IS THE ONLY MAJOR FLAW IN FUNKY SNOOKER!!!

You can't be telling the truth there :P
Black = 7 points
Pink = 6 points
Total = 13
Your lead = 26 - 13 (pink and black) = 13 difference
You would of won becuase he needs more than 12 points from snookers

To be fair Merv, its not so much a flaw in in FunkySnooker but more a flaw in Human Nature. As you say in the thread title 'Bad Sportsmanship'. The time limits are necessary in order to ensure the completion of the tournies although I do support the proposition that there should not be a time limit on the Final.
Oh and good spot Si, but it is possible if the 26 point lead is achieved by coming from behind - so the break hasn't finished and the default win not yet awarded ... very bad timing.
Not the case lol as Merv has pointed out (see below) - but still possible

13:58 Sat 28 Mar 09 (GMT) [Link] i appreciate that mate, however is there no way of putting the person who is winning through rather than chucking both out?

Yeah just bad sportsmanship, if he only needed 1 snooker then its fine to continue but when he needs 2 and only 2 balls on the table not fair to carry on and take both of you out when you were well in the lead, Just hopefully next time this happens the oposition swollos their pride and gives it up for you!
(Also when I play orig (not very often) I always say to the guy before hand if we go down to 1 minute whos ever behind will leave for the other becuase I no i'm not to good and would find it difficult to go all the way through in the time limits)

The thing is, there is more than enough time given at the start to complete a game, so to be honest it shouldn't really get to that stage.

A problem with this is that somebody who has built up a lead could basically time waste in order to ensure going through - which is almost as bad (unfair rather than spiteful)
When this was brought up last time ( http://www.funkysnooker.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=5123&page=1 ) Nick suggested the idea of a 'chess clock' although that has problems too.
I'm unsure as to how it stands with Nick at the moment but the main conclusion I seem to remember was that there is no 'ideal' solution.

14:21 Sat 28 Mar 09 (GMT) [Link] u know urself though a frame of snooker depends on where the ball lies - to me a comment like that seems to say that lets just wack the balls open and pot pot pot. safety play is a FUNDMENTAL part of snooker, and a SKILL - should players be penalised????

See how I break all the balls get split up pretty decently anyways, so honestly unless your rolling up behind bulk every shot which would then involve a foul with you having to hit a red it would be finished pretty easy.
But also if your opoment taps up to pack just smash them who cares where they lie the majority of players will miss a shot and leave you in thats IF you don't pot from smashing the pack
Theres no reason for somebody not to play aggressive its online you win some loose some just go for it and see what happens! Aggressive FTW!!!!!!!!
(Also I seen damee play and ste_efc and virtuoso and pretty much all of the big players they all just go for it i seen them all miss the easy ones but pot the ones we would think are 'impossible' just saying to be at the top of your game like these lads you need to go for it and not get worried if you miss)

If it was a major flaw wouldn't nick be trying to fix it? Yes it is a flaw in some respect but wouldn't call it major, like buddytobud said, there is no ideal solution

This has rapidly become a debate on different styles of play which is not the issue here - bad sportsmanship and whether there is a solution that can automatically be provided by an online game for tournaments is. Were it to be in real life the situation is easily resolved by the inclusion of an independent referee - which is unlikely to be implemented here.

i brought this up recently and its not going to be changed by the look of it!!!
damee as your a moderator id take a step back slightly and remember we are gonna front our frustrations, your comeback with some comments i felt was a little narrowminded, maybe nick would continue too look for a resolve if it continues to crop up.
bigmerv has a very valid point , unfortunately it cant be changed..

Just thought i'd say that in your position in a 'competitive' game i would carry on to try the snookers - or even make the game scrappy so my opponents form might dip a bit for the next game(s). However if i was still no better of and needing snookers with a 1 minute time warning i'd concede to allow my opponent to continue in the tournament.
It's not so much Funkysnooker but peoples personalities - don't forget, they probably don't know you and may therefore think 'Why should i allow someone i don't even know through?'
Time limits need to be in tournaments to ensure they get done in an appropriate time. As I'm sure damee will tell you waiting 20mins for the next round of a carom tournament is annoying, espicially when me and damme can get through 4-5 games against each other!
