Say's it in the title really. Is there a possibility we could have our own clan forum? It is annoying when other clan members (not naming and shaming) go on to every clan page and leave a message that dont even make sense.

I've had it in the past where it has caused arguments and bickering. And it is happening even worse now. I'd just like to hear people's view(s) on this matter.

Cheers.

You mean as your example. A 'Ruff Ryder' forum where only Ruff Ryder's can post comments?

Yeah mate.

In other words, take a step closer to making clans official.

It's a good idea but very hard to put in, would be easier if it was not a forum but just in thread form and only being able to if post if you have an official namer "tag" as such for example where it says premium member you could have

Clan : Ruff Ryders

That way you could have only members with that tag posting on that thread

If that makes any sense?

From my knowledge of forums, You can set permissions for certain members to post on a certain part of a forum. Usually when they are attached to a group. (just like a group policy on your computer)

The moderators have a staff forum dont they? So it must be possible to add members of that clan to a new group, and give them access to their own forum.

The only problem i see, is a lot of work (required from nick) to add new clan forum and a whole new group for new clans. Also when a member leaves a clan, nick has to remove them from the group and put the new member in. From my point of view this would be a waste of his time.

Unless Clan Leaders had control over it. I dont see it working. Nice idea ryan. but getting it too work smoothly will be a big issue

agree with the whole concept, however with clan members moving and leaving clans on an hourly basis, the only way it can work is that if clan leaders did have control over it...

however, why not just post on your clan forum that you only wish for your OWN clan members to post on your thread then surely others clans will respect it!!!!

What you are able to do is, Create a forum called 'Ruff ryders' Set the permission of it to hidden, then just give the few select 10 or so to be able to see the forum, then every clan would be able have their own and we wouldnt have a huge list of clans as you could only see 1, but obviously you would have to keep gen clan chat to arrange meetings clan matches etc,

Because if you don't set it to hidden and everybody can see that just means that theres going to be a huge forum full of different clan names. But all mods and admins will be able to view them all due to obvious reasons and rules being applied

and who is gonna create the clan forums each time a new clan is formed. When new members join the clan and people leave. who takes control of that?

It sounds simple to put in place, but the ongoing upkeep of it will be a pain in the backside

The best way really is to have a forum rule, where only clan members can post in their own thread. If everyone stuck to that, there would be no problem

No thats only a thread, you need a whole forum to yourself so if a new member comes welcome 'si123 to the clan' etc

lfc_lad I don't no if you have alot to do with forums but its 1 click of a button to create a new forum for each clan and as I said previously the mod's will still be in charge of each forum just like they are now.

You could also make it so any mod can allow a person into the clan that way we have not got to wait for a Admin to come online, also this will be extremly easy to add onto the forums aswell because its only basic stuff

that will work, if mods control it. but making the forums, yes it maybe one button. still will be annoying when new clans start and old clans fade away.

and yeah i do have forum experience, ive had my own for almost a year now.

I was just pointing out how i think it wont work.

But why is a private forum for each clan needed? If threads can work for pool (where clans a hell of a lot more successful), why can't they work for snooker?

As lfc_lad said, there will be a lot more forums for moderators to look at, when private forums are, in my opinion, pointless.

Or instead of forums you could have private offline messaging with multiple people. At the minute you can only have one-on-one conversations using this tool but it could be developed so that other people can be 'invited' into the conversation. This way only selected people can contribute, it's private, plus you can customise it as you wish with whoever you want and it can be used for other reasons other than just clan chat.

It's also less work for staff who would have to moniter such forums and having to clean up and delete 'dead' forums when a clan finishes. And lets not forget the endless requests for permissions on certain forums.

Not to be fuuny, as I like the thinking, but why do clans need their own forum?

Its a snooker game at the end of the day not a war....

IMO clans should be called teams... Who ever heard of snooker clans really? Snooker teams is more appropiate

sorry for being off top

So put that in yourself.

And clans aren't a massive part of the game. There a part of the game that people think "Oh, that looks like fun". Then they create a clan, mostly of friends or random people they think look good.

This clan will then challenge another clan similar to it. Both "captains" agree on a fixture list. This fixture list is then posted. "Captains" then wish their team luck.

One week later, one of the captains, noticing few to no games have been played will post "Come on get these done". Most don't actually message their clan.

Remember that 5-6 new clans a month are created in this way, and then think that the moderators will have to reject and accept new people into clans, who will more than likely not actually do anything.

Seems rather pointless to me. Keep the clan thing as it is, unless Nick plans to make it official. Maybe we should be talking about that, instead of trying to make our job ten times harder.
