Last night I reached the regular final.
It went to 3 frames .. all of which were fairly slow I have to admit.
However, we were timed out in the 3rd with pink and black remaining.

Whilst I understand the need for time limits in the earlier rounds (otherwise the tournaments would last for hours), it seems very harsh to have one in the final.

Questions:

1/ Could mods / admin please clarify the time limit for the final?

2/ Is there a fixed time per frame, or for the entire final, irrespective of 2 or 3 frames?

3/Are there any plans to do away with the time limit in the final?

Thanks.

Agree, time limit, which i think was 41 or 42 minutes, should be dropped for finals.

Also, whilst i'm here, why are normal Regular semi-finals still best of one whilst original and arcade semi finals are best of 3?

is it me or did i see this exact same thread a few days ago with the exact same replies, maybe even saw a few more replies and this is stating it got put up today *confused smiley*

on topic i do think this should be removed from the final because i was a victim of this in an original speed tournament when i was about to wrap it up

Couldn't agree more, it is pretty ludicrous having a time limit in the final IMO

I completly disagree, For 1 tourny where both will get DQ'ed 100+ tournys will be completed so that means you are either really slow or something is going wrong, 41/42 minutes to play 3 games of snooker is unberlievable if I had a game on orig now we could get 3/4 in on that time limit pretty easily

Knowing that there is a time limit when the scores are tied at 1-1 should just push you to play more aggressive and go for the long pots instead of the easy safety then this problem would not occur

If everybody thinks the time limit is a problem though then maybe it should be removed or you could increase the final time limit to 50 minutes for 3 frames of snooker, thats more than enough?

Personally, I'm against removing the time limit for finals but I could be swayed.

I think that the same time limit and pace should be used across all rounds - taking the timing pressure off changes the outcome.

Also, some people may have other time priorities eg appointments off the site. With no set finish time the game could just drag on.

If generally the time limit is too slow this could be increased.

Regarding the other 2 questions, today I've updated the tournament page to give full details about the times and round information.

Thanks for the update Nick - I'm sure lots of players were unsure about the time limits.

I support Mooney's suggestion that the semis be a race to 2, as per the other tournaments - is this also something that you are considering?

At the end of the day if Nick brought this in, you could be involved in any game type tournament final. It's 1-1. Your opponent starts snookering you, tapping up to the balls and this goes on for 30 minutes, plus.

Watch how many threads get made because people think the time limit should be brought back.

For example: Original speed tournament final: youngjeezy DQ .vs. DQ heartbeat

Main reason was Trish had a real bad internet connection that day. Obviously it was 10 secs shot time limit, but she took 30 secs plus to take her shot. And with the time limit we had for the final, i knew it would'nt finish. It's all part of the game IMO. This forum would just be full of dissapointment and people moaning about bad outcomes. And that would just be me!

Well done, it looks very nice.
However, could you display the time in minutes instead of seconds once it exceeds, say, 120 seconds? For example, Game time limit: 750 seconds would be better understandable as 12,5 minutes or 12 minutes 30 seconds.
