So that it can get to the 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 player stage quicker. Say 36 people entered and no byes were given for the first round it would end up like this:

18 games (36 players)
9 games (18 players)
4 games 1 bye (9 players)

Wherewas if 28 of the 36 people are given byes in the first round, it means that it gets to the 32 player stage straight away, meaning someone isn't guaranteed a bye in one of the later stages which may be considered more unfair.

So if 36 people enter 4 games will be played so by the beginning of round 2 there will be 32 left so:

36 - 28 byes 4 games played
32 -Round 2
16 - Round 3
8 - Quarters
4 - Semis
2- Final

Because it is better to have more byes in the first round when there are a alot less good players in instead of giving a great player a bye in the quarters than semis

I think my idea was understod a bit wrong.

If there were 36 players in first round. As can you see in my example only 9 games were in progress. Others go through on a "bye". So just 9 players was knocked out. Not a half.

The idea of the tournament is to play not to watch your progress with "Byes". An if a player is good he can kick out his opponent.

So IMHO there should be only 1 Bye when the number of players is not pair.

No, never. Do you see it on tele where like 50 enter, and it keeps getting halved. No you don't. You see the stages at 64, 32,16,8,4,2,1. Theres only loads of byes in the first round to stop there being less in the next rounds (if any).

yes the byes must be given to get to the relative stages,

they are fair and the best way of getting the tournaments to the later stages
