Just a suggestion but would it be possible for if your opponent leaves during a tournament game a pop-up box comes up saying how long you've got left and asks if you wish to continue the break?

Something like:

Your opponent has left the game. You are currently on a break of '47' and have '3:48'minutes remaining.

Do you wish to carry on with the break?

Yes/No

Note: If you fail to finish your break before the time limit runs out you may risk being disqaulified. (or losing the break)

This should give players a chance to finish their break when the opponent leaves and players can't moan if they have been timed out because they have been told how much time they had remaining before they decided to continue.

Thoughts and Feedback appreciated.

For feedback, perhaps you could check out one of the many existing threads on this subject

A quick search will give you a small selection of them

definate yes for me because if people care about tournaments they can press no. If they care about breaks then they can press yes providing there is enough time left and they can miss anyway.

For example if someone was on for a maximum break and the opponent left when you was on 56 or something along those lines then they will be gutted if there was plenty of time left (say 5 minutes for example).

Surely if somebody is on a break and have either won by default or other player has left the game then the time limit on the current break should be extended?

I still can't believe that this hasn't been changed, surely the amount of people asking for it well outnumbers those who like it better this way.

I don't even know how it works, your opponent leaves usually when your on a big break yes? So then unless you go extremely slowly, then you will never be DQ'd, because there will have been very little safety play.

Plus, why not just end the break when the round finishes if needs must?

*fails to see the sense behind it*

Also back in the day ... there used to be a message when you tried to quit the game saying you couldn't do so. At least bring this back, as it was only scrapped because you could now carry on your break... :\

Yeah I think if you want to continue with your break you should not be DQ'd if you take to long just EoB when the time runs out!

I used to always be against this idea becuase just liked how it worked, then got fed up of people leaving a few left on 49 1 guy left on 44 when black was on spot and its just simple easy halfs that they don't want you to have.

So hopefully with the amount of threads created under this topic it will be back!

Not only that, but you get the messages 5 minutes left, 3 minutes left, 1 minute left, which should give you some sort of inkling that times about to run out...

Finally, you are in no more risk of a DQ, in fact much less, if your opponent leaves compared to if he stays there.

And am sick of the excuse, if you want big breaks then don't join tournaments, well I for one want both!

I was playing straight tournament over on pool, and you can carry on your break after the opponent leaves :S

how come it's not the same?

Well exactly Kai, I have said straight from the start that this started as merely a glitch which wasn't removed.

Has Nick seen this yet? :S

I'd like to know if my idea could possibly be implemented.

i think the decision should still be left up to the person who is on the break. there is a warning at 5 mins 3 mins and 1 minute before the end of the game. surely if they choose to ignore that its there own fault for being disqualified. and futhermore, if they are still trying to finish a break when time runs out they lose their break anyway because you cant continue in a tourny room once time runs out.

so knowing this with one minute to go that they will be DQ and lose the chance to get a max they will miss a shot end the game and continue to the next round.

this is the comment i left on the other thread and wasnt bothered writing a new one
