I had a few on my other account (mooney_147) when i first started. I'd just want the frame to end for me as quickly as possible and so the easiest and most effective was to leave or close the game window and open it up again.
As you can i've matured now and with 0 abandoned games to my profile. I look down on the abandoned stat and just think it's how unsporting or sore you are that you can't even wait to the end of the frame. The small exception that you unfortunately get logged out by dodgy internet problems is acceptable. Because thats not in your control.
Anyway, on topic. There will always be a few 'bad apples' and i doubt introducing a 'funkysnooker ettiquette' will do much. People will behave how they want to behave. Yeah, i'll agree that there are some players who cleary have very little or no respect for their opponent(s). Solution to avoid these players is to simply play your friends. Otherwise don't be surprised if you bump into one of these 'bad apples'
I'd say around 99% of people on the site are respectable and sporting, gracious in defeat and everything else you'd associate with 'the ettiquette of snooker' so it is only with the minority of players where the problem lies.

How many of you can honestly say to me from day 1 to this second you have never left a game due to being servealy beat or said GG early or said things in chat area to goad people into missing.

Time to bring this topic back to the fore...
I need to have a rant.
Whilst playing a game this evening against an opponent I shall call XYZ the following situation occurred:
XYZ was on a good break, and after potting a red was snookered on all colours bar the black.
He could hit the black (full ball), but not pot it.
Instead of making an attempt at a safety, he deliberately potted a red, in the hope of leaving it safe after.
Regardless of the fact that I could have:
1/asked him to play again, or
2/potted a red myself, I walked.
This may surprise some of you, but it's part of my ethics towards the game. Yes, it is only a game, but at a crucial stage my opponent deliberately cheated in order to gain advantage.
I've heard the arguments about how difficult the coding would be to replace the balls after a deliberate miss, but I just wanted to get it off my chest.
There are still too many players who cheat one way or another IMO, and I know how hard it is to stop it from happening.
However, perhaps if more people are made aware of the etiquette in FS (Nick - where's the Etiquette page pls???) it might not affect so many others.
You may or may not agree with my actions, but I would like to hear as many opinions as possible.

Baff, we talked yesterday a bit about this incident.
Player XYZ is also known to me.........also dutch.
He was virtuoso in arcade so he shouldnt need this behaviour.
In tourneys (even more than in ranked games) people are so eager for winning....that they cross the line.
Therefore i keep on playing friendlies,,,,,where often many guests ran .....
Its not easy being on Funkysnooker.......

force fouling is the worst thing you can do in the game, snooker is supposed to be a gentlemens game.

How drmatic is that? Nobody is forcing you....
Baff, you can't use the word cheating, it is not against the rules on funky so, he is well within his rights to do so.
IMO there are far worse things on here than a deliberate foul.

Whilst I fully agree that there are worse things than cheating here(unfortunately), it ii still an issue which irks me. Perhaps (big if?) if enough people complain, something will get done about it.
A suggestion that came up some time back was for new users to receive an etiquette email when they sign up. Getting people to play in a more friendly manner may help other less pleasant aspects of FS too, don't you think....?

For reference, it has already been discussed in the following (archived) thread: http://www.funkysnooker.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=5338
I personally do deliberate fouls when I can take advantage of it. The reason is that we play the game with the current set of rules that has been implemented, so until a rule has been implemented to prevent users to do this, it's considered a legal shot.
On the other hand, my opponents can also do it, and sometimes do, so I think it's pretty fair in that way.
