Now, here's a touchy subject, but it is one that has been raised in snippets here and there in the forum pages (but not in a dedicated thread it seems....).
Although it is impossible to referee matches (there's another idea!), it seems that overall the level of etiquette is declining on FS.
Is there any possibility that a code of conduct could be drawn up, to which players have to adhere (other than "thou shall not swear etc)?
Alternatively, would it be possible to include a page detailing Snooker etiquette in general somewhere in the forum or help pages (for those less familiar with this topic)?
I'm sure I've opened a rather large can of worms here, but I'm fed up of reading all the complaints about "gg" when it's not over, diversion tactics, players walking away from breaks in a tourney, just because they can....
What irks me too, are the numer of times I hear "it's much friendlier on Funkypool ..." Fot me, that's a real pity, because FS could and should have everything going for it.
Over to you ... and I'm sure that all regular Forum users must have something to say about this!!

i agree totally what baff has just said.
the thing that bugs me the most
is players saying gg wp half way through a game, they still have a greatof winning so why do they say this.i think thats very unsportsmanship.
another thing when im like winning by a lot in a tourney game i have noticed more and more players giving a lot of abuse swearing and calling names
theres no need for it
i hate funky pool cause that happens there alot but funky snooker is catching up which is a great shame
i hope something can be done about this because this is a great site
thanks for writing sarahh

look i agree with baff, it is more and more now that people seem to be causing more of a stir,
i see no harm in having an ettiquette page, it would be useful and also mods could direct them there via link to show them rules etc,
Ive been on the wrong end of some bad ettiquette, im not perfect however it would be another usefull tool for pushing the game in right direction

Honestly I'm not sure this would help.
I can understand your idea in 2 ways:
1. write an etiquette as an information of what is nice and not nice to do around here
2. write an etiquette as a set of additional rules, and punish players for not following them
In case 1., bad people will just not care.
In case 2., bad people will find other ways to bother people, while sticking to the rules. After all, not being fair-play just means finding ways to bother your opponent while not being punishable for your behaviour, which is unfortunately always possible, whatever rule set you use.

yeah i agree with blutch.
either way people are going to find new ways to annoy people they dont like.
personally i never say "gg wp" until i know i am well out of the game ie when the person passed the point i need 3 snookers or more etc
and if people say it early to me i normally reply with "its best not to say that too early in games because it annoys alot of people on the site" and leave it at that

May be a solution will be to put option to ignore players chat during the game just a click away in chat window?
If someone is swearing I'd prefer to not get messages from this person and do not loose the game.
Sure it always an option to complain but it is not very useful during the tourney (especially Speed ones) when a player hits balls in order to get you both out.
So for me it is clear that offended player has to have more option to defend him self.

Personally i think its not bad on Funkysnooker.
Especially if you play "friends"....its always no problem.
Playing unknowns is not my favourite...but sometimes you cant avoid it.
Lately i often play friendlies...to have focus on making the breaks in stead of winnign a frame. Of course many guests come in...and leave even faster....
My general opinion is...behave normally..then your opponent also will do that.
Cheers

1 thing that is geting to me is people who complain about game etiquette, but when you are looking at their profiles and notice that they have left more games much further beyond the point of using the excuse of 'The internet connection is really poor' It does not matter if say gg early or leave a game it is all in the same boat
If you look at my profile the few games I have left are from when I first started and yesterday I left 1 for the first time in months but I had no choice
I don't see a problem with people saying 'GG' early I have said this on many ocasions becuase that appears in the game chat area just the same as 'Hello how are you?' Its only you to blaime for reacting to it different
I have being in matches when abuse has being throw from the first red to the last black and the way to get back at these people is to win. Let them say what they want let them do what they want at least at the end of the frame win or loose your the real winner for playing your game and keeping your calm.
How many of you can honestly say to me from day 1 to this second you have never left a game due to being servealy beat or said GG early or said things in chat area to goad people into missing?
If somebody turns around and says I hav'nt I wouldnt believe you at all. Ok you might have grown up now and not do it anymore but just becuase you changed doesnt mean anybody else will or has to.
So think before posting about game etiquette can you honestly say you stuck to it

I dont think theres too much wrong to be honest. If anything i think the people on this site has more etiquette than in the past - even with the vast increase in users. Maybe I just get lucky with the people I land playing with. The only thing i can criticize on is people leaving in tournaments whilst im on a break. I went through a tournament the other day when i didn't get a complete game until the actual final. That was ridiculous in my opinion.

in response to you simon, yes i have never left a game due to being severly beaten, somebody saying GG early or any other reason relating to another player.
and i can tell you why i have left games:
1) it is a tourny, im behind and my opponent has played much better than i have, time is running out, i leave so that he/she will not be disqualified also.
2) technical difficulties resulting in me being removed
3) reasons outside my control that result in me having to shut down the computer.
they account for the 2.3% or 43 games i have abandoned. and all have come with an explanation and apology to my oppenent as to why i am leaving.
futhermore, i have never left a tournament game when somebody is on a break.
you may call me a liar if you like but i know the facts and that is enough for me.
