Ok we all spend all day discussing what we would like to see, what can be done, what wont be done, etc etc etc
I have a question ......
What is currently happening behind the scenes.
Is there anything being worked on / changes going to happen?
Will we see any changes soon / or not
I love discussing all the possibilities but id also like to know whats happening at the moment.

Things are constantly being done behind the scenes, however you must appreciate how time consuming it is to even keep a game up to date, let alone to constantly tweak it.
People should also consider that perceived improvements to the game are often (if not mainly) subjective, and therefore not requested by the entire community.
Every member of the staff is dedicated to ensuring funky snooker grows, and everyone can see how much the game has came on over the last year or two.
You can keep up to date with the latest advancements here http://www.funkysnooker.com/forums/game_announcements.
Hope this helps.

Sorry Brian, but the link doesn't appear to work:
"Can not find this forum"
I will second Lee's call for more information about planned changes. True, the majority of players may never make any suggestions, or comments in the forum pages, but it seems that there a lot of (often sensible) ideas being suggested about a wide range of topics, yet we rarely see any reaction from staff / admin as to the feasability of them.
Personally, and I am sure others feel the same way, a little more input from staff in the forums (especially regarding changes) would be grealty appreciated.
When there is a new thread, wouldn't it be possible for staff to add a comment or two just mentionning whether such an idea is in the pipeline or not?

You guys seem to be moaning alot about this one.
Sure its fustrateing not knowing whats happening all the time. But i can tell you things are always being discussed.
Mod's do know about things i believe but are never told until the high team (Admins) are sure its going to happen

Nicks the only one who can code the site. I think we should be thankful for what we have.
Don't forget he has Pool and his new site, killerpool + daily work and personal life. Thats an awful lot for one man!

We are talking about an astronomical amount of work here. Its not just snooker but pool as well. Over the last year or so we have seen the introduction of.....
straight pool
regular snooker
carom
killer
improved graphics
improved physics
table color options
improved GUI
new practice options
and that's just off the top of my head.
It is just unrealistic to expect to be kept up to date with every little game tweak. However when we look at the above it is unfair to insinuate that the members suggestions are not taken seriously. The improvements that have been made to the game over the last year or two have been outstanding.
The best place as always to discuss and keep up with game changes is on the forums.

Just seen that, shouldn't be a full stop at the end that's why try it now... http://www.funkysnooker.com/forums/game_announcements Although that only tells you what has already been implemented so what help that gives I'm not sure...

Don't get me wrong i'm not saying he's doing a bad job or putting him down in anyway but surely it would be better to know what he has plans for then not knowing?
this is not true
I think you'll find it is true, so please don't misquote me to make me look like a liar. How many things have you knew about other then the java update, have you actually knew about?

if admin know, why cant they be made make announcements to take time off nicks hands?
08:54 Tue 15 Sep 09 (BST) [Link]
Why make announcements when they don't know exactly when its going to be implemented.
For example . .. Premium
This was brought up in 05. and has only came about within the last year.
@ Fly.
Yeah it might be good to know plans but it depends on how indepth the ideas are. theres alot to think about don't forget. I can see your only paying an intrest which is good, shows you want the site to grow.

from starting the thread i was hoping for a simple list off possible changes,
its like showing us a tiny crack of whats possible,
but here we are and from all replys you havnt told us nothing new.
clever answers to counteract an argument, yet still no answers, were all at the same point as before which is basically we all work hard etc etc, which we all know we dont doubt it we are just asking if anything new is in the pipeline, if you dont know whats in pipeline mods or are not allowed to say why not just say that at least we would have an answer to one question.

Like fly_53 said, we only usually find out whats being implemented possibly a few days before its due to be introduced at the earliest. The main reason Nick can't release a list of what hes working on to the rest of the site is the fact that people will react badly if, for whatever reason, something on the list can't be finished.
Not releasing a list of what he is intending to do also means he can work in his own time with his own deadlines.
If he released a list saying, for example, a new game was going to be implemented on the 31st of October, only for that deadline to be pushed back, how many of you can honestly say that you won't find something wrong with this, that you won't have something to say about it?
Not releasing a list makes things easier for Nick, and also keeps things surprising (to an extent..) when something new is introduced.

dave has a point, if a list of some ideas for improvements is released then people will get excited about the sound of it and will naturally be disappointed if for whatever reason it is not introduced.
as much as it would be nice to know what is planned for the future, people cant be disappointed about something they dont know might exist.

As some of the longer term memebrs will know, there used to be a section listing upcoming features, but all it did was cause endless threads asking "when will it be ready" etc, and it also stifled discussion on these forums.
Many times, and I'm sure I speak for the other staff here, we don't reply to every idea simply because we have seen them a few times before.
Fresh debates about ideas is always good, so keep on discussing them, and the best place to see whats being talked about is right here, on the queries forum.
All the best ideas are taken into consideration and worked upon over time, and do end up being implimented, but only when you have been here a few years will that become more noticable.
It doesn't seem that long ago since "how about a snooker game?" was being asked on the pool forums
So, the way things are now, as you can see from the announcments forum, when something is ready to test, it is down to you, the users, to do so, and provide feedback, as is happening currently with the killerpool.com thread :
See, nothing is hidden, so likewise no false expectations are given.
Edit - and before it starts - there is no "favouritism" for one site or the other. Obviously killerpool is getting a lot of Nick's time just now leading up to the launch. But ideas and improvements have always been shared between sites.
What usually happens is the site who gets something first moans that they "have to test it and put up with the bugs", whilst the other site says "why do they get it before we do?"
Go figure

A few changes have been made to killerpool.
Speed pool (clear up) and sudden death (single life) have been added.
The central lobby has a chat panel, so people can organize games etc. I will also add a player list panel so it will be similar to the funkypool lobby.
Cue changes: cue is shown when you are lining up a shot, and you can also see your opponents cue when they line up the shot. I'd like to add this to funkypool too, so let me know any thoughts.
EDIT: You might need to press refresh to get the latest images for this patch.

I think its like with My Mum and Dad when I was younger.
They'd promise to take me to Blackpool a week in advance only for when the time came to go, to have something else to do.
So basically, if you were told doubles was in the pipe line indefinitely, and then it turned out that there was some sort of difficulty and it had to be put on the backburner, everyone would cry and whinge like I did when I was 17 and didn't get to go to Blackpool

Joke, I was 16.

In other words, avoiding giving false hope and expectations. Similar thing happened with premium if i remember right. It was put down for a certain date then had to be put back a few times. People kept on nagging about it, so it's better to slam in a new update out the blue when it's good and ready.
