Is it just me? Or is the clans on FS being destroyed?

I was captain of the ruff ryder clan for near on a year. With no trouble at all. I ran the first clan league with alexo, which was successful. And then i tried on my own with the second clan league. (Which i still to this day, know it was going well.)

To no avail of course. With moderators un-stickying the clan league thread without consulting me, and a couple lads taking over... it felt a bit, out of order.

We all started out 10 players, couple of subs, and that was a clan. Where as now, i have seen more than three clans with over twenty players.

The new age clans are destroying the clan era on FS. And thats my honest opinion.

Just remember that i tried my hardest, not just for my clan... but for every clan on FS. To try and improve the "clan" situation over here. As it is nowhere near pool's standards. It just feels like i've been stabbed in the back for all my efforts.

what iv noticed is that its increasingly hard to get players that are commited to a clan. players dont want to play the games for one reason or another and kind of forget that they are in a clan.
there has been several attempts lately to create new clans and they die out after a week or a month at most.

clans on here are far from over,

i would like to highlight to ryan,

my clan has over 20 people - correct

however id safely say 10 of these players ryan , u would laff at them if they asked to join your highly rated ruff ryderz, i have an academy aswell players without a 50 break, im trying to make a squad out of my team not just a selection of superstars.

so yes the clan is big but its also a fair clan and ive got some v committed members simply because ive given players a chance.

I've never laughed at anyone asking to join my clan. To be honest, not many people have asked to join for a while. So please dont make me out to be harsh bud.

Its nothing to do with "superstars" Lee. Just dont agree with the fact i could'nt keep my players happy (apparently) in the clan. Yet, you have 20+ players and you seem fine. *Confused smiley*

As for the clan league... there are two hustler teams, two agents of chaos and two thunder hawx. So realistically, there are only 6 teams in the league.

thats how ryders are percieved, were the best etc, so your expected to have a safe solid team,

i personally noticed what seemed a large gap where ryders just didnt seem active in the forum (i may be wrong), inevitably players would leave.

i have kept my players happy but it hasnt been easy, ive tried allsorts,

clan league
clan knockout
mixed clan world cup
clan match hustlers v hustlers
various friendlys
also clan match trial where you pick your on opponent,

this is no pop at ryders cos i personally dont wanna see them finish, just my thoughts,

i dont know what happens with other clans but i know with the hustlers we all do our best to back each other up etc, congrats messages regarding tourneys and breaks, it just feels good team spirit.

since ive had academy ive felt good reward wen the new lads get there first half etc, and we congratulate each other, all this has taken time but slowly and surely i seem to of found a good few loyal members ( mrmaximum, torres, kat, an70n1, gazclin, pot_147s ) i know there going knowhere and this is the base to our success as a clan in my opinion.

ring_twita7, poopatroopa, tim_jones and pot_luck08 there all my m8s that i go the pub with etc, if it wasnt for me they wouldnt even play funky let alone be in a clan.

Yeah it is true. We were unactive in the forums.

That was because i had my hands full with the clan league. But then again what is a vice captain for? Surely they have the ability to sort a clan match out. Or a ruff ryder league if you must.

As for loyal clan members. I've had a few that have stuck with me. (heart_beat, bak2basics, kelly1234, egley09.) And some that go from clan to clan. (bak2biscuits)

I had alot of problems with the clan for another reason. Which i'd rather not go into.

I honestly dont think they will work. No offence, but i can just see the hustlers, A.O.C and maybe assassins and thunder hawx being the only clans left.

And if that is the case. I'd rather not be involved in players constantly swapping. One clan having 25 players, the other only with ten. One clan a bunch of mates, the other an unorganised clan etc.

I tried my hardest to keep the "clan era" alive. And to me it feels like others are killing it. Sorry, but thats how i feel.

Im not saying FS is going downhill. And yeah, i do believe it was better a while back.

Some would agree, others would'nt. If we all agreed on the same thing life would be so boring and plain.

It's the clan part of FS that needs brightening up i think.

Any other suggestions or opinions?

Ryan, I dont want this to turn into an argument, what I say here is purely my opinion. You made a fantastic effort with the clan league etc and us being the couple of lads taking it over is only down to the fact that there is 4 people running it now, which in my opinion will get the higher % of games completed.

Also it needed some changes because for example, the tournament counter is a little pointless and there was an issue with not being able to swap in players during the season is daft considering all the deactivates etc.

But as I said you made a fantastic effort, especially trying to run season 2 on your own.

But the new league is here now and will hopefully be starting by Monday. Lets give it a chance before saying clans have died or not as good as they were.

I applaud AOC as they are so active on the forum and they all play for a laugh, which is what a clan is meant to be. Thats maybe what has been lost, the fun part of being in a clan. Thats why people join hustlers and agents more than anyone else. Its the fact that we play games but we also have a good laugh. Most of the clans gone by the wayside didnt have that side to it or like you say, lost their key players .....

I understand completely what your saying. Like i said above, i went through a bad time. And then Kelly was in hospital for a while. There was no way i was coming on this site, just to run an inside league to keep my clan happy. Mine and Kelly's health is real important to me.

Like i also said above, (im not shoving an excuse on my clan members because ryders fell apart) why do clans have vice captains? Surely if the captains away, its then in the hands of the vice? You would for Lee, would'nt you?

Or unless thats how i pictured the way a clan gets run.

i completely agree with martin and lee they both said it in different ways, and i said it on a thread the other week aswell, the clan is about having a laugh and increasing the enjoyment of coming on funkysnooker. the hustlers are all great mates, the majority of a.o.c post regularly on the thread and generally all have a laugh. to me thats the key to success. and thats not a criticism of the ryders or any other clan

im only here a year but i think what ryan mentions about funky being better in the past was that there was less users and a more friendly atmosphere since most users knew each other. thats the impression i got from talking to the older members anyway. and you could say maybe the "honeymoon" period for you on funky has worn off. it did for me and i joined a clan and that brought back the enjoyment to funky. life changes tho and so does the site so it could never stay the same as it was before.

and lastly, at the end of the day this is a game, treated very religously but none the less it is a game and peoples lives come first.
if you have to leave because your child is crying or needs to be collected from school or your gf is sick thats perfectly normal and understandable to most people.

I think until clans become officially funkysnooker associated they're doomed to die out, now I know from previously being a mod that official clans are pretty high on nicks to do list but when it will happen, no-one will know. So as I said until clans become officially funkysnooker associated they're doomed to die out.

Here is my honest opinion.

I agree with both sides. I agree with ryan because i personally think clans were better in the old days and personally i think clans should be 10 players and 3 subs max but lee and mrmaximum also has a point.

I would also have to agree with lee and mrmaximum because clans havent died yet, as they rightfully said there are 4 clans left really, that being Assassins, Agents, Hustlers and Thunder Hawx. I dont think their should be 20+ in a clan but thats their choice and we must respect it. I must also applaud lee for all his hard work with the Hustlers, also Agents of Chaos for being the most reliable clan today.

Assassins has also been here since the beginning, 3rd clan on funkysnooker if im correct after FSE (FunkySnooker Elite) and Firm who had legends in their clan. Assassins are also one of the longest running clans ever, being 9 months so i know how much clans have changed around here. I originally made Assassins to make a team that was as great as FSE and Firm but as time went on ive really got on well with my clan and that went out of window. we broke up once due to unreliablity but were back and i would like it to stay that way.

I am currently doing an Assassins league which will keep the clan busy, also their is the clan league which i hope is successful. I will also put in Assassins tournaments and maybe a world cup if all goes well.

i dont want clans to die.

The Firm were the original and best clan. When we died out, so did clans.

im sure FSE would have something to say about that
