Can I change my name? I dont want to reset or deactivate just drop the 77 from my name.

There's indeed no way to change your name while keeping your account.

Also, you can note that kenny already exists, so you couldn't have taken that one anyway!

would it be possible to set it up that say every 6 months you could apply to change your name? and have any previous names automatically logged on your profile page?

It is possible to change your name. A guy on pool changed his, his name was dedicated to his girl and when he split up with her he messaged an admin then it changed... he's now a mod on pool so maybe he was just a popular dude on there, who knows...? Alls I'm saying is it can be done

It can be done, yes, but only if a change in site policy makes a long standing name invalid, as happened with the case you mention on pool. (the one and only time it has happened, to my knowledge)

since you confirmed it can be done, that brings me back to my question,

could you apply like only after a certain (long) period of time to change your name?
for those who may have received unwanted abuse as a result of the name they had chosen or something like that.

its not fair to say that it would take up more names because they could set up new accounts with the name they want to change to anyway.

The reason it *isn't* done, is that it is a change at the very root level of the users database, basically meaning shutting down the site each time.

The very simple method is to choose the right name in the first place!

To repeat - the name change mentioned was because of a site policy change, not a users request.

If you dont like the current name, the only way you can change it is to de-activate and create the new account.

But if you chose the right name in the first place, you would not need to do this.

But Psycho, theres a few problemas with your idea.

Firstly, the site would probably find it hard to transfer the stats from 1 name to the other, and keeping it there, without encountering bugs.

Secondly, some people may abuse this, i.e, not play until the name change is available and then even when the name change is in place, continue not to play.

I like the idea, but i just dont think it should be implemented.

i hate this name with a passion but dont wanna lose my stats, grrrrr, no wonder some people have multiple profiles.

why didn't you just choose a remotely decent name in the first place?

Tell you what though, I want my old 2good account name back, deactivated it over 12 months ago, so it should really be availiable again

Deactivated accounts not being removed is a known problem and is being addressed by Nick.

Personally, i think deleting the accounts worked better, because then the username could be reused, but that leaves the risk of wanting the username back when the account is deleted.

Well I just know that once it becomes availiable some idiot will knick it, so when it does become availiable I want to be the 1st to know about it
