For some reason, my laptop's keyboard randomly stopped working. Whenever I press a key, it either does nothing or activates one of the function keys. I've already done a system restore, any other possible solutions?

Try to hit with some strength the special keys, like ctrl, shift, alt, fn and so on. On my laptop it has happened that the keyboard acts strange, when the system "thought" that one of these keys were being pressed, and pressing them again fixed the problem.

Btw this should be in Computer Chat.

I know it should, but not many people look in there. xD

After mashing all the keys, its still not working. However, I did find out that the shift keys are now the 'a' and pagedown keys! xD And also the 's' key.. lol.

God bless the on-screen keyboard. My keyboard has been broken for months. My brother spilled coke on it...

Can you plug in an usb keyboard and check if it works well? If it does, it may be some electronic problem with the integrated keyboard, in which case I guess the guarantee is your only resort.

Oops, posted at the same time!

Yep, what you said above, with the shift key now acting as 'a' and 's' among others, It really does look like a hardware failure of the keyboards PCB.

A USB keyboard is a good test, and if it works, you can try removing the main keyboard via device manager, then rebooting and reinstalling it, but I'm sorry to say I don't think it will work in this case

This may sound silly but you have got it set as a UK keyboard ?? as other countries operate slightly differently. I had a friend who had this once

As far as I know, the settings haven't been changed. Do you know where abouts I could check?
