Maybe I'm just not paying attention, but there used to be tourneys that happened less than daily.

What about a really punishing grand prix tourney? (first to 3 each round till the semis when you add one, then another added fo the final)

It would only be every week, on a saturday night or something when people are at home doing nothing.

The marathons are ok, but they still have rounds where you only play one frame. It sucks if you're knocked out for making one mistake.

What's the view on a longer, more difficult tourney less regularly?

I think that the main problem would be to gather enough entrants that are willing to stay online during like 3-4 hours for the tournament.

most people say on for that time but want to improve rank during that time and its quite limiting to just play a torny all evening

i think this is a bad idea, as blutch said you wont get many entrants in who would be willing to stay in a tournie 3-4 hours.

marathon on pool is bad enough where the tournie lasted 3 hours, from 1st round - quarters it was 1st to 3, 1st to 4 in semis and 1st to 5 in final.

How about alternating the marathon tournys in the week. For example like 3 Arcade, 2 Regular and 2 Original.

Monday - Arcade
Tuesday - Original
Wedneday - Regular
Thursday - Arcade
Friday - Original
Saturday - Arcade
Sunday - Regular

If its a weekly tournament of course your going to get more entrants, it has more meaning to it when you win! This is a great Idea.

Still want a mixed tourny where each round is a different game type. Would be stuck on overall and would show player's all round ability.

Yeh i like the idea, but like Blutch pointed out, who would stay 3-4 hours just for a tourney win.

Unless we made the Grand Prix tourney extra special, like rank points for it, say 10 rank points if you win the tourney, but nobody over 950 can join to stop edge modification?

well thats just silly, shouldn't be points at stake because i could guarantee enough people would join, without fail. If its every week it has more meaning when winning.
