I've just been working on a new practice routine, and thought I'd share it. It wouldn't surprise me if something similar is already being used by people, but here goes-
Line the balls up along the centre, and the first objective is to (as quickly as possible) get all the colours on their own spots. To do this you can pot any ball you like whenever you like (so don't worry about "Foul, potted wrong ball" messages). The main rule here being that as soon as you fail to pot a ball, or commit another type of foul like an in-off, then the game is over and you have to start again.
If you succesfully manage to get all the colours on their correct spots, then immediately from the next shot your aim is to clear the table in 1 break, as high as possible. Obviously by this point you will have potted a few reds in order to free up spots, so the fewer reds you've potted means a higher break can be obtained.
So far, I've managed to get all the colours on their spots OK, and followed it up with a 28 break, but I've still to do this with a clearance to follow.
I guess the beauty of this is there is always room for improvement, as the chances of you getting all the colurs on their spots, then following up with a total clearance on blacks, would be (I would think) highly unlikely!
It's kept me entertained for a while today anyway!
