I was just playing in a game and my opponent needed the black to tie. I'm of course confident of potting any re-spotted black and so on my last shot I played to just hit the black since it wasn't in a safe enough potting position without the cue ball going in/off etc. My opponent then potted the black to tie but was then given the re-spot which, he then potted winning the game. Im pretty sure that it hasn't been that way in the past? Anyway, bring the 'lag' rule in please.

Lag for me then a player earns the chance to pot the ball. At the moment its down to chance, and because it is now random, you cant even form a plan as to wether to go for the snooker or to clear, as you don't know which way it is going.

At least the way it was you knew where you stood, destiny was in your own hands, now its all about chance.

Yep, I agree lag would be class. I'm not too bothered though but I would prefer to lag.

It got changed months ago so it's random.

But i do think lag is the best way IMO.

most of the time people want the game to be as realistic as possible, until a rule from the actual real life game isnt to their liking, real snooker the decision is random, dont see why it shouldnt be on here

lmao i wouldnt mind that

Of course, the difference in the respotted black between real snooker and here is that it's a difficult shot in real life, whereas the distance between cueball and object ball in Funkysnooker is irrelevant as you have a top-down view, making it always a pot worth taking on. What way used the player to be decided?

i like the idea of lagging 2 see who gets to white

I'd like a system based on the ''sudden death'' concept to see who gets the chance to pot black.

In Real Life Snooker, the person who breaks goes second, therefore it alternates between each frame, fair's fair to me in that sense.

However i personalli wouldnt mind a lag to determine who takes the first swipe at the respot.

derry, i am sure that they use a coin in real life snooker (heads or tails), as we can't do that here on funky snooker then i think the "lagg" would be MORE fair then it being random.

^^ my opinion

Completely incorrect, its decided by a coin toss.

we are already doing that on funkysnooker, there is a 50/50 chance that you will get the first shot on the black on funkysnooker.

what are the chances you will get it in reallife? 50/50

I think the next player being random is correct, certainly it shouldn't benefit either party when it's trying to resolve a tied game.

However it is pretty unrealistic at the moment in that it is quite easy to cut the black from the break off.

A potential change could be to place the white ball on the blue spot for the next shot or to place the black ball further back, making the cut more tricky or even impossible.

I'm not thinking to make the game more realistic - more that respotting the black could involve a bit of a play before end of game.

Thoughts?

I think it being random is the best way to be honest, ok when we lose out were not happy but when we see its our go im sure were all smiles then.

When you said about moving the black back or even placing the white on the blue spot my concern would be the game turning into a tap tap bore,

Yes that is a concern too - ideally the balance would be somewhere between pot in one shot and tapping safeties.

Why dont you add a heads and tails feature to the website? It not only decides who breaks but for respot aswell.. I can easily conjur up the script for you.
