Okay, so today 4th of December we had the 2010 World Cup draw that will take place in South Africa. I'd like to organize a Funkysnooker World Cup with each national team of the following summer's competition represented by one Funkysnooker member.

THE FORMAT

We'll do 8 groups of 4 teams / snooker players, each group identical to today's draw, with 2 teams / snooker players advancing to the knock-out round. There will be seedings for this tournament, the higher FIFA-ranked country in each match-up will have the choice of which out of 3 game types (arcade, regular, original) his respective group stage match will be played in.


Games in group phase will consist of 2 frames, each representing a football game's 45 min. half,
3 points for a (2-0) win
1 point for a (1-1) draw
0 points for a (0-2) loss.

When all group phase matches are completed, in case of a two-way tie, a carom play-off will be played as a decider. In case of a three-way or in case of an unlikely four-way tie, a 3-man or a 4-man killer play-off will be played. Games will be friendly, unless players of a given match-up both want to play ranked.

In round 2 / phase of 16, the group winners will have the choice of game type over the group runners-up. Again 2 ''45-min.'' frames, if a team / player wins both he advances. If tied 1-1, we go to a 1 frame decider / extra-time.

The quarterfinals, semi-finals and the prestigious 2010 Funkysnooker World Cup Final will be played in all 3 snooker game types and will involve no draws / extra-time. The QF will be (1 arcade, 1 regular, 1 original), the SF will be (2 arc, 2 reg, 1 orig) and the Grand Final, which will be played at a pre-set time so that the Funkysnooker audience can watch it, will be a best of 9 frames all-round match to decide the 2010 Funkysnooker World Cup Champion. The intention is more like to crown the winning nation rather than the actual funkysnooker member if you understand what I mean. There will also be a bronze medal game to decide 3rd place.

THE RECRUITMENT

We need 32 players who like having fun with this kind of leagues, you can join this no matter how good you are, as I said there is absolutely no time constraint, as we have until June 2010 to complete this event.

I'll play for South Africa as hosts, even though I don't like their team, just to get things started and my man fuzy, the ''buzzy'' will play for our home Greece. I understand that everybody will want to be Brazil, Spain, or England and nobody would like to play for Slovakia, but all 32 teams must be used and glory will be much greater if u win this with Honduras than if you win it with Germany.

A German player would have priority to represent Germany or a Dutch player to represent Netherlands etc. and it would be awesome if a very strong overall player could be interested to play for Brazil. Also, it would be nice if stronger players (800+) played for England, Italy or Argentina etc. etc. and if we had somewhat weaker (600-650) players to represent Honduras, New Zealand or Algeria, in order for our FWC 2010 to be as realistic as possible.

So we have 2 players so far, tell me what you think and let the recruitment start if you like it , we have plenty of time, (e.g. ''I'll play for Paraguay'', or ''I'm a 760-780 player so Chile is the team for me'' or something along these lines), if not and we not manage to get 32 players together in 2-3 weeks or so, well, we'll have to drop this post / idea.
