Pretty new here enjoying the site great fun, trying to work up the rankings but became very disappointed when playing one of the top players.
In with a real chance of winning, he's snookered with 3 redsand made no attempt to play a shot, just pushed away.
How unsporting is that lol, I must have had him worried
As expected he went on to win.
I have not issue loosing to the good players - but play fair.
Is this how you play to get get up the rankings?

you just have to remember the players that dont play fair pal.
unfortunately what hes doing is not illegal and hes obviously using his skill and knowledge of you being new to take a chance of pushing away putting you in the next shot.
best thing now pal.
Its called revenge and one day you'll get it.

When they do this, you have 2 simple choices. Firstly take the shot on from where they have left the white, or put them back in. Thing is when they do this, you always have the advantage no matter how you look at it.
Yes it's not the point and its unsporting, but you can't do a thing about it.

Yep. If someone does that to you again, make sure you punish them. I actually like when people do this to me because I get control of the table.

to be fair its not an advantage is it. basically .......... new the guy was a newer player and knew the shot would put him under pressure.
its easy for the likes of damee and j-dollar to say because there top quality players so yes giving them control of the table is advantage to them.
when your a newer player being offered a long red (example) is daunting and the likelihood is you will miss or mess up a safety.
also this guy was playing in the speed tournament on orignal in the match he was talking about so basically the player knew this bloke was gonna struggle to pot by the sounds of it.
its not an advantage at all when your a newer player yes your in control but if your still learning, well we've all been there.
there is no good / bad comments in this thread, the only thing anyone can say is try to avoid that player again and if you have to play him in a tourney hopefully a little bit of sweet revenge will come your way.
perfect example i was on for my first 107 and the guy left so break was stopped short, couple of days later, semi final first frame same bloke, i got my 107, he couldnt leave cos the game was best of 3. couldnt of asked for a better time to get my first maximum.
its just a bit of bad sportmanship / tactical play from the experienced player. unavoidable and certainly wont be the last time you come accross this.

I didn't name anyone as I didn't want to cause a bun fight but I see someone must have looked at my history, didn't think about that.
It's quite right that I had the option to put him in again or take the shot but as said above a difficult shot for me is reasonably straight forward to someone 200+ ranking places above me.
I took the shot - missed - end of frame.
I like playing you good guys, you can learn a lot and it's good to watch also don't drop many points when you loose

Im one of those players that pushes out
I get confused and think ive just potted from the break in 9ball...
Silly me
Would be nice to have a "replay shot button" but it could only be available 3 times bcoz if your in an impossible snooker...
Your never going to be able to get out of it

since when can you pot from the break in 9 ball???
on topic: Its very hard to do anything about this in a game. Obviously in real life you have the replay shot button for a deliberate miss, but a computer cant judge a deliberate miss (unless its very clever).
As everyone else has said, just avoid playing that player is the best you can do until a genius finds a way to make a deliberate miss rule work. Any geniuses (genii?) around?

No point naming and shaming Lee. You know its against the rules.
As for the matter... its one of those things. Practice your long shots on the practice table. Thats about all the advice i can give.

Another point on the matter...
You dont see Ronnie O'Sullivan step up to the snooker table against a newer player (so to speak) and think... ooo, i'll give him an easy time because he's new. Do you?

I don't think that's a comparison.
The last thing I would expect is to be given an easy time
As said before I like the see the good players play.
I also think there is a certain element of the good players wanting to show how good they are to the relative new players. Nothing wrong with that either, I'm sure when I get good I'll want to demonstrate how good I am.
All I'm saying that if you take the risk of playing a lesser player and it goes wrong be man enough to accept it and not use a shot option that isn't in the spirit of the real game
But imo there is no doubt that the shot played was unsporting I would have expected a sporting legend like Ronnie O'Sullivan being the player he is to make an attempt.
I think its's well accepted that the professional snooker scene can boast some of the most sporting and gentlemanly guys form any sport.

Ah so it's that user. Yeah we've all had our problems with him lol.
Cue_power - replay shot? That's the foul and miss rule, which can not be added onto here as you need a ref to judge it.

You have full reason to complain it's horrible behaviour people should never push out. Imagine proffesionals doing it? They'd be fined at the very least?

You couldn't be more right. It's a pity there is no way of making deliberate misses illegal yet. It might never be possible going by what some people have said earlier.
Also for the record, if I was given the same shot as you in an original speed tournament I probably would have missed it too. (I didn't know it was in an original speed tournament!) Giving a new player a shot like that on the hardest table with the least time limit is obviously very unsporting.
Is there actually any way to prevent it? Or will we just have to get on with it?

its been a bad day please dont take my picture!!!
ok sorry about naming and shaming lads
but i didnt write the whole players name so didnt really name and shame.
sorry
Still though unsporting players should be named and shamed.
Like cue_power for instance who pushed away 3 times in a row against me when i snookered him
he admits he does it so this isnt naming and shaming by the way.
But i respect cue_power for it because i know he wont complain when i repay the favour.
haha
anyways, fragmented m8 when you get better you will enjoy punishing your opponent pal.
and if you ever get chance to get your hands on the
enjoy the moment.
