I doubt im the only one thinking this....

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone has a max in one game type or another?

A few months back, there were hardly any max breaks on regular and original (arcades been chocablock for ages!).... and now there seems to be an endless number of people with maxes, in either regular and/or original.

I've looked at some peoples accounts (not mentioning no names) and they have barely played over 100 games in original. Yet, sporting a number of cents and (yes, you got it!) a maximum break.

I know your all going to say, "he/she obviously reset their stats or deactivated and made a new account" and "he could have played as a guest for years" and all that.

If that was the case. Then their past account should shadow/mime some of their recent performances, surely? And how come we hardly ever see a guest hit a half on original, let alone a cent/max!

And before somebody says it, i aint moaning or just need something to whine about. I achieved my cents/maxes from learning and practicing, and it took me a hell of a long time to achieve!!! So, i'd hate it if im being knocked down tables unfairly, just because someone wants their profile to look good.

I just want to point out, this thread is a question which is stated in the title. This isn't a debate, or a chance to find out about who i used as an example. (Because there are many of them )

I dont even get a cent chance on arcade these days and players that im alot better than are just pumping them!

I'm not sure that you can talk about max breaks being "abused".

In regular, only 16 different players are showing on the table as having a max.... and 19 on original - that's a long way from "everyone" (although there may be others who have deactivated, I agree).

It seems to me that the overall standard of play has improved greatly over the 18 months or so that I have been playing. It is normal I think, that more players should be getting higher breaks, as people play / practice more than ever. The old adage "practice makes perfect" seems applicable here.

dont know how a maximum can be abused, your either potting the balls or your not simple as.

when it comes to maximum breaks you cant complain about going down the rankings, because there putting themselves back to 0.

when it comes to killer % and carom shot % then i agree its unfair,

people who take 500 killer shots and then dont play agin, so they can stay at the top, thats annoying.

Also i think people are realising that arcade is just very easy to play, so the maxxes are flying in, definately helped by the fact people are trying all the tables now.

In all fairness if i never had reset i would have 50 maxes on each table, so everyone would have been knocked down a place lol.

For just about everyone on this site, the achievement of a 147 is massive. To me it's nothing anymore, just another break.

Anyway, in some aspects it is abused, yes. But standards have simply increased on this site. Just got to move with the times.

Like baff said, only 16 people on reg and 19 people on orig has had a maximum. How many people are on this site? Most of the people who have had a maximum has been playing for a while. so being "abused" is wrong.

wish i could knock in maxes. It could be the standerd of players have got better so people need to knock in high breaks just to stand a chance of winning. With the amount of good players about now you also improve more by playing them. Its like with most things. You dont get much better playing people that you know you can beat easy as its not a challange.

It's at least 20 people who have hit a 147 in Original. Some muppet called dom got one and deactivated his account.

I agree with Ryan, if people are on a maximum, they should just miss because we don't want just anybody getting maximums, people should do THE RIGHT THING.

Im really wondering from those 16 in reg and 19 in Orig who got a maximum....how many different persons that exactly are.....i guess some with double (or three) nicknames are included there.....

^^ If that were the case they would not last for long due to the site's policy on multiple accounts.

The percentages of people hittng maximum's is still very low out of the entire userbase, so I don't think there is any "problem" as such.

We have to remember there have beena lot of updates and tweaks to gameplay (including improved graphics and animations) over the past year or so, and also that average monitor sizes have increased with 19" being pretty much the standard and many having much bigger gaming displays.

Those factors combined with people simply improving with time and more new members always joining means the frequency will always be creeping up.

(see, managed not to mention straight snooker despite the obvious opportunity!)
