just had an idea

you know the touching ball rule where if you touching a red you must play away from that red (without touching) otherwise it will be a foul, might cut the tapping what happens on here.

and retake shot, would it be possible if you foul, the balls could be replaced in the exact place and make your opponent play again.

Thats right jaaaames, the retake after a foul (or more specificall, the ability to judge a miss), is something often mentioned but one of those rules that really doesnt translate to a computer game.

The touching ball, however, can be done. The only possible problem would be that users playing at a low resolution could have it looking like a touching ball when actually it isn't.

maybe a middle screen pop up or something in chat box or a sound what says touching ball.

Yeh a touching ball would have to be called rather than you just thinking it.

Nick would probably need a couple of years to code a complete miss rule, but we could have a partial one, for example if you don't hit it hard enough then its an automatic miss or for after a random shot.

Also, we could just have a 'miss' button. Would require both players to agree and two sporting players would agree to it.

Yeah that's true, it would be a foul because it would be regarded as a push shot.

in that case, what i think should happen is in the chat box

"touching ball - tapping into this red again will result in 4 point foul"

or something better worded than that with the explanation

I think the touching ball wont be 'much' help, bcoz they less advanced players will just play the opposite way to the red (still tapping) whereas the more advanced players will be looking to get a snooker behind a baulk colour maybe.

And yeah the miss shot is impossible to judge...imagen your tight on a cushion with a colour ball glued to the white...making hitting a red impossible...you could just keep putting the opponent in...

Maybe your could put the rule they use in the Championships. Your only aloud to put your opponent in the same Snooker, 3 times, once the 3rd time is over, you must continue from the shot your opponent played, but then that leaves your opponent maybe tapping the baulk colour and then leaving you in a snooker, its a hard decision IMO.

I'm pretty sure that's not true.

I'm certain i've seen people have like 10 attempts before getting out.

i think if you could see the shot, then the 3 fouls and out rule comes in, if snookered you can have as many attempts as you like.

I entirely agree, not retaking snookers is a joke!

On a number of occasions, I've needed points to win, and get a really nice snooker - only for the other play tp just hit into another ball and sacrifice a few points and then go onto win!

Also - if someone snookers me, and I miss - I want another crack at it!

As touched on by a few but not exclusively explained (for thos who haven't read all the other threads about the miss rule) - the problem is that its a judgement, not a hard and fast computable rule.

It's all based on the referee deciding the player made the best attempt possible. Sometimes that may men a very near miss, other times it could be out by half the table but is as near as possible frrom that position.

For the record, in real life, there is no limit to the number of times a player can be asked to re-take.

There is a limit in real life, which is to the point at which is when the frame goes into the "snookers required" stage.
