I'm not bitter or anything....

Actually I'm quite bitter...

Because almost all of the tourneys are dominated by pros and virts who pot from break and clear up.

I don't see how this is a fun frame of snooker, and I shouldn't imagine that it's any fun for them to have to wade past rounds where they essentially are forced to play a practice frame before the semis.

So can't they have their own tourneys, both to open up the game to mid-level and casual players, and to make the pro tourneys more challenging for those involved?

It's frustrating and dispiriting to play opponents who clearly deserve a better level of play, and also to never stand a chance in tourneys.

Thoughts?

There's a similar idea here if you want to look at the responses to it: http://www.funkysnooker.com/thread/6878/handicap-tournaments/1

This has been mentioned plenty of times, personally i think the only way to get better, is to play someone better, pick out your not so favourite shots, practice them on the practice break. When playing a pro/virt, take the mistakes you made, practice them on the on the practice table, thats what its there for

Boils down to not being able to regulate it.

Not everybody is at their correct rank for their ability.

Take damee or virt107, both reset on a whim, two of the best players on the game cud play in every "adept" tournament they wanted to. And you would get people dropping down from 800 to 790s just to play in easier tournaments.

In principle its a great idea, in practise its unfeasable

in my opionion we should have a tourny for:

newbies
novice's
intermediates
adepts
proffesionals
virtuoso

but you would get the likes of virtuoso147 reseting stats to a newbie so they can win, but if they do have tournies like this , then once you reset it only changes your wins and loss' and not your game level. so this way people can play there levels, does anybody else agree with this idea?

let me know

Tournaments a regularly won by newbies (fake or otherwise) and adepts as it is.,especially as there are a number of very good players who never play ranked games, only friendlies and tournies.

In order to have a fair system, it would need value judgments as to the true ability of the entrants which requires human intervention. This is already done to some extent by people creating their own tournaments/leagues via the forum which should be sufficient.

As an aside, would a 'Novice Tournie Win' count the same as and 'Open Tournie Win' in the stats or would extra stats have to be added too? If the latter, you would only have people resetting more to get 'the full set' so to speak.

Remember, anyone can beat anyone else over one frame on here.

I quite agree Dave, one frame verses one frame.. anyone can win, so their is no differance.

Ridiculos idea.

Your trying to say...members that are better have to beat a tougher field to win a tourny whilst the less talented players get a freebie easy tourny?

Jog right on.

I havent won 150+ tournies beating newbies! So why should everyone else get credited in such a way.

Simple fact is, no one realisitcally has an advantage with funkysnooker, your not born with a talent of potting balls on an online snooker site.

Practice and a general idea of maths and pyhsics applies, anyone can achieve the same as anyone.

Stop complaining and start playing.

Jeez.

Same applies, if you are not good enough to win a standard tournament, why should there be an easy tourny for worse players.

I think its actually pathetic/stupid to even contemplate this and im not sure why people bring it up.

Why would you seriously want to beat a bunch of lower class players to win a tourny?

I never use to win tournies now i've won over 200.

Sometimes with carom, if i play a semis and final against weak players im disatisfied with it.

And i still remember one of my first arcade tournament wins making my first ever century of 102 against ste_efc after beating fastboysam and then beating N_e_r_d in the final, my other games were sean_paul and boz_lad.

I was probally average back then, use to get nervous playing the ball for a 50.

Anything can be achieved on here.

Rant over, stupid idea.

I'm liking the virts only tourney idea ..... especially in reg

....be me and whocares8x8 in the final everytime as we are the only virts currently.

Racking up those tourneys if either offline!!!!!

LOOOOOOOOOOL

i say keep it as it is!

That's the only incentive to get better.

i got thrashed every time but eventually have won a couple of tournies, knocking out pros and virts on the way. They do make mistakes (occasionally!) and can be beaten.

I've also learned a lot from just watching the thrashings I've had - especially when I was 147'd after one visit (to break)!

Stupid idea do you think all the grand slam winners in tennis should just play in grand slam winner tourny's? No that be stupid.
I think some people are just wanting to win some tournaments by avoiding good players.

Agreed Max pal, just improve and have the guts and dedication to beat the better players entering tourneys

i mean, surely winning a tourney by beating one good player has got to be more of an achievement then beating 5 or whatever absolutely poo players?

i think this idea is stupid and just wont work.
