I just tried to find out but as far as I can see there's no specific amount that all carom games are played up to. I think it's just whatever you decide at the start of the game or tournament or whatever.

Most websites I've looked at say it is a pre-arranged amount of points required to win. So it seems as though both players must decide what to play to.

In this case we could have a "Points To Win" drop-down, where the Owner of the game selects, say, 5, 10, 15 Points ect.

hmm, doesnt really give us much to go on, could be anything that.

we need nick or spinns to see this really for a more accurate view to see if the options to choose number of points will be implemented or not.

i have an idea though, is it possible to write in the points you want to go up too (minimum is 5 as always, maximum could be set to 50)

what you think?

Exactly and there's nothing wrong with that.

So then we could just be given an option of what to play to just like you'd have in the 'real' game.

That's the idea I pointed towards in my last post

Either have a drop-down menu or a text box to type in amount of points, but cap it at a maximum amount of points.

Obviously the game Owner would define the amount of points, but by entering the game, the opponent is agreeing to play to that amount of points.

Could even add extra text to the current alert at the start game to inform of the amount of points required to win.

Trying to think from nicks point of view now, where did he get 5 from? :S

The time as come now, the game is getting easier so something should be done to prevent it from being "whoever wins the lag wins"

like fuzzy said in the beginning, all it take is for some 1 to do "break of, good shot and a lucky shot and the games at there mercy"

I was one of the first to suggest a drop down menu to choose the amount of points required to win

yeah when i play dest i might win once out of 15 games and its all because 5 is the limit and also dest on form can hit a 10+ run out of nowhere. If 10+ was limit or as curt said able to write/choose number of points required to win then dest cannot win in 1 turn and i can get at least more than one chance per frame.

you have also made me see sense about rank system we would have to create a whole new game to change rank system.

I think, I would therefore slightly modify the basic idea and have the no. of points selectable when creating a room (similar to shot duration and rank limits). In fact you could then reduce the points required (say to 3) for the aforementioned beginners.

Could we please keep this in subject? It's not about who has it longer "said"

Most real carom games are over 20-30 points.

And this thread is not about ranking system too.

First things first . -

There has been many discussions on changing to do Arcade table, a orginial table, and a regular table.

But this could also work to

Maybe you should set a points tally, so below the Time Setting, maybe you could put the Score Setting, first to 10 Points wins, first to 25 points wins, to a maximum of 147, as its snooker
