Okay.. So the TournaPoints update is ok.

BUT I think the following changes would make it a lot better:

- Instead of TournaPoints being recieved at the end of the tournament, normal rank points are distributed.

Say a tournament is worth 50 Ranking Points:
- the winner could receive 25 ranking points,
- finalist 12 points
- third place 8 points
- fourth place 5 points.

all of these would be subject to edge modification etc! and the ranking points could also be given to the top 4 players or top 10% of players in the tournament (for large entrances).

because of this, individual tournament games would again be unranked so if you aren't placed in the tournament you do not lose any rank.

I'm I have left anything out or there is anything anyone disagrees with any feedback is welcome!

So basically.. If I had it my way we would scrap TournaPoints and just have this new tournament system.

Sorry but I don't see this working at all, let alone being adopted.

My main disagreement is that it turns tournaments into just a method for top players to get free handouts of ranking points (with no risk whatsoever to their existing rank) and as such just puts Rank as the main goal which is against Nick's philosophy.

Maybe only having one ranking tournament a day in each discipline?

It would defeat the object entirely I feel.

I thought the whole method to the Tournapoints was so because adding ranking points for tournaments would completely unjustify the ranking scales.

This has been discussed many, many times, as you can see with a quick forum search.

There is no way you can include a "rewards" system in the normal rank system for the reasons explained in great detail elsewhere.

I completely dissagree with you saying it is a "free handout". People will receive an amount of points depending on the amount of participants (i.e. the more games they have to play, the more points on offer) and edge modification would still apply so it would be as difficult to achieve a high rank. So the points they win will be justified.

And people who aren't the "top players" who may reach the semi finals or greater will recieve an amount of rank points which they may see as an additional achievement.

I personally think the current way of doing things is fine.

Only thing I can see wrong is the "free handout" that Buddy said, 25 points is a large handout, imagine someone who is a 775 rank, 25 points puts them to pro, when maybe they're aren't a pro standard yet....
