"Change your profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood. The goal? Not to see any human faces on FB until Monday, Dec 6. Join the fight against child abuse!"

Going all round this on facebook. Thread also over on pool

I refuse to do this.

For the pure and simple fact that changing your picture to a cartoon can be branded as "supporting" a cause such as child abuse is pathetic.

Im surprised you would mock this Dame.

Yeah lads sorry im pretty steaming.

I think i came accross wrongly. I just thought Dame would have the same outlook as me on this subject, thats all.

But if you think of all the children in the world suffering due to drunk / drugged up/ violent/ ill tempered /sick people, Getting beaten by fists and weapons, getting abused mentally, physically, sexually and emotionally for no wrong doing of their own. I dont see how a cartoon picture changes anything. It holds no significance in the lives of abused children, it has no purchase.

In my eyes its a complete joke that the people i know on facebook are displaying animated pictures and cartoons to portray them actually caring.

The ironic thing is that though displaying a cartoon you use to watch when you were a child, living a far better life than the children this cause is supporting....reminding you of good times and joy whilst the people that this cause effects still suffer whilst people are galivanting around on facebook with a cartoon picture being able to sleep easy truely believing that they are helping this cause just makes me sick. Its repulsive.

Also there is a % of people displaying animated characters that are purely doing it for their own benefit. To make them look 'cool' amongst piers or how ever you want to label it.

I think it's just to show just how many people agree with this, there is no doubt that some of the "drunk/ drugged up people" are on Facebook, and somehow seeing a load of people who are against this will maybe just get through to them...

Its purely about raising awareness dez. So that people wont forget what is happening to children all over the world and some might actually do something about it.

What was Movember for? Raising awareness
Why do footballers wear black armbands after somebody died? Show they remember that person.
Changing a profile picture shows abuse victims are not forgotten.

Granted there are people who are only doing it to be like everybody else but that happens all the time

The group asking you to change profile photos to cartoon characters is a group of paedophiles they are doing this because kids will accept there friends request because of the cartoon characters its nothing to do with saving children or violence it was on a tv show about internet frauds and will be on tonights news repost this so the message gets out there and save the children from paedophiles

I agree with Derry - its pointless changing your profile pic, what does it achieve? Rather than change the picture to "raise awareness", why not actually donate to the NSPCC?

I actually didn't know what changing the picture was about until I actually asked somebody, doesn't really help raise awareness, does it?

Well I haven't seen anything on the TV or the internet about this.

I suspect that it's another one of those nasty internet rumours that crop up every so often.
