This was a problem with the regular table upper edge, and it should be resolved now.

Interesting, I thought it was on every table and I'm still getting it on the orig table. Maybe this could help clarify:
On every cushion there is a small black line (where the balls hit, it's about 3 pixels thick). What is that?
If it's part of the cushion, the ball should not overlap with it.
If it's supposed to be a shadow, then it's ok.

Yes, that's correct. In fact, the underlying logic is aimed to be in the middle of the shadow as the shadow makes a good outline for the play area.

There is still an unresolved bug where the ball can overlap the shadow though (this can occur when multiple balls are touching next to the cushion).

One other thing, at the moment, the ballls seem to be potting marginally over the jaw of the pockets, particularly the corner pockets. Where before they would have bounced off the pocket jaw.
