Carom tourney should be at 2

An unrelated question: ( I didn't think it was worth creating a whole new thread for this)
Why are the semifinals and final only 1 frame in the Carom tourney? Can't they be 2 frames like all the other tournaments?

re carom frames, same as power snooker.

they are tradionally only ever 1 game, they are not 'frames ' as such so are left as 1 all the way through.

Ah ok that does make sense.
In that case I hope that at some point in the future the final (and the semis) become a game to 10, since the final of carom generally takes less than 5 minutes...

yh true and why cant u choose how much u want it up to like 5 or 10 and maybe even 15

Seems like a great idea to me. Rather than having 2 frames, just keep to the traditional way of playing, and increase the game to first to 10 rather than 5 in the final & semi's.

It's to easy to both win & lose in a carom final.
Although the game is down to a lot of skill, it also relies on quite a bit of luck, and increasing the amount of points to win, would determine a fairer result.

For example, I could win lag, and lets say for whatever reason, I screwed up and missed the break off. The opponent then makes a run of 5, and wins the tournament.

Too many people these days can make runs of 5 with ease, not many people however can make a run of 10+ with ease, making the game more competitive.

Anyway I've went slightly off-topic here so I'll leave it at that.

Isn't that up to the tournament organiser and not individual players (even if you could ensure that they would agree)?

i meant in individual carom games not tournament but i realise it is nothing to do with this thread

I think you may want to consider changing the newly added random tourney to something else (orig maybe, since reg and arc are close). Only 4 participants last night and only 1 tonight. Not enough qualifying people online to play at that time...

Well that could mean that there could eventually be more than 1 Carom tournament ?

One tournament with 5 points needed
One tournament with 10 points needed
One tournament with 15 points needed

Could that not work ?

That would work for some sort of a "marathon carom tournament", which we are unfortunately far away from since there aren't a lot of entries as it is.
For now, I think a 10 point semifinal/final would create the same increment that exists in other tourneys (where there are more frames towards the end).

By the way, thanks for the change Sam, orig tourney should work better. I'll keep an eye on it.

i dont think the 9 am orig tournie should be there now as you never get alot of entries (like random) and with you cannot enter as newbie makes it worse slightly.

with random i think it should be non newbie in ONE event as then you would get alot more entries as apposed to the 1-10 we have at the moment due to being non newbie in ALL events.
