Would it be possible to receive (non-tournament) invites while already playing another game?

Currently, when you invite a player they do not receive the invite if they are playing. Could somebody shine some light on why this is the case. I cant see a reason why it is in place as they would be no more distracting than the announcements that appear in the chat box. In fact they would be less distracting than opening a private message to the person which opens up on the screen.

I would guess it's to do with stopping the amount of abandoned games that occur ?

It isnt like a tournament invite though Tom. If you dont accept the invite to a normal game then the game never begins. The game doesnt begin until you click yes.

Think he meant people leaving their current game to accept the invite. That would mean the game they left would be abandoned

if i was to send somebody a PM asking did they want a game they could just as easily abandon the game they are in so I cant see how there would be a difference.

its not really a big deal either way to have it as it is or change it I was really just wondering why it is the way it is

I think this makes no difference, just leave it how it is and you said it yourself you can just PM them so does it matter that you cant invite them?

You came up with the Solution to your own problem!

I wouldnt really describe it as a "problem". I distinctly said it isnt a big deal anyway. I was more looking for a reason why it was set up as it is but i have yet to get a satisfactory answer from anybody as to why it is the way it is.

I generally dont like PM'ing people when they are in games as it can be extremely distracting to have a box flash up on screen when they are potentially on a break or an important shot etc etc. so i had the idea that being able to invite would be more discreet and if people dont want to accept then they can ignore it or PM back at a time that suits them to say they are busy etc.

I presume Nick just assumed that if someone is already playing a game the wouldn't be rude enough to run off and play someone else unless it was for a tournament, in which case the opponent would completely understand as in real life. Other than that, I doubt there was a technical reason.

the reason could be to stop being put off shots or ppl spamming u as in ur opponents mate trying to give ur opponent the advantage
