Firstly I would like to know how the game was easier back then? It was harder actually

Secondly beating a player doesn't mean you are better than them. We all get beat at some point, in the bigger picture it means nothing.

too many players living in the past - you are only as good as your last match. Steve Davis used to be good but that doesnt mean he is good now. Players who were "great" many moons ago (when there was less competition, easier tables, normal balls instead of balls that look like someone has been sick on them) may still be great players but they sure as hell don't like getting beat by the new breed. Having just started on snooker I constantly get told that it is more difficult than pool - well original and carom are quite tricky but arcade, regular and power snooker are no easier nor more difficult than a pool game - just different aspects of your game are tested. One thing is for sure - players are so much more friendly on funkypool........

What does snooker vs pool have to do with the topic of this thread??? Odd...

I also would like to say if you take any of my posts seriously on this thread then you are too concerned about it. It's only a bit of banter on my part, apart from the last bit of my last post.

But seeing as though it's going this way I might aswell get stuck in...

1) There was more competition years ago because of the quality of the players

2) Easier tables? I'd like to know where you pulled that idea from. Choice of cloths, choice of aimer, more accuracy with the game makes it easier than ever before.

3) No one mentioned anything about pool and has nothing to do with this thread what so ever.

4) Players are just as nice over here as they are at pool.

Not concerned at all eemad - the arrogance of the snooker players who seem to think they are so much better than their pool counterparts amuses me.

For those that used to be "great" - just get on and prove you are still "great" at a computer game instead of just telling everyone you used to be top etc etc

anyway, maybe we can collectively ignore al so that we can get back to the purpose of the thread? It was certainly not snooker vs pool

After playing both sites for a while I still think pool is an easier game, and snooker players are better players overall, but not by much.

And seeing as though I'm the only one of the "legends" or "greats" who is posting, I'd like to say my stats on both sites really prove them selves (not so much snooker these days)

and as I have said eemad you are one of the very few who can regard themselves as 'one of the best' at this computer game (and pool). As with all such games if you play enough and have some co-ordination you are going to get vg after a while. Naturally I am ignoring those who use aimers as they clearly have no hand eye co-ordination!

seriously i do not think pool is friendly every time i log in im barraged by people asking 'asl?' as if it is a dating site i dont get that on here so how is getting asked for 'dirty cyb3r chat' nicer than being left alone?

Wayyy of topic now! But basically all these players brought the game up to the standard which it is today at best.

Does it matter who is the best or one of the best etc, surely we are all only here for a laugh, bit of fun and a good game of snooker/killer/carom

Also sorry al but players here are far nicer, I found that you get a lot more idiots over there than on here where you only get the 1 or 2.

the problem here is the new breed don't like being told that OK they are good now but really they aren't as good as people used to be. And to add to that they probably know themselves that they aren't which probably annoys them more.
On the counter to that the old greats don't seem too keen to give credit to the new players coming through who are getting to be very good now as it means people may forget about them.
Neither faction is "right" or "wrong" here, and both viewpoints are understandable.

As someone who has played against people like damien, destiny, derry, ragefire at their best i can say that yes they were absolutely class. But having also played against some players coming through now I think that in time they will come to be AS GOOD AS the old greats. Maybe they arent there yet but when they have been playing as long as the players mentioned above i think they will be.

I'm not great, never have been and never will be, but I reckon i can tell the difference between an opponent with great skill or one who hits and hopes and there are some genuinely skillful players coming through now!!!

Without doubt there is people coming though. As I keep saying, whocares8x8 is a total machine! The only new breed who without doubt belongs with the best in my opinion, and I'm a person who doesn't give credit to much people.

personally find it a bit stupid that whatever these players say goes maybe people should stop sucking up to them?
