I don't know whether this has been brought up before but how come there is no touching ball rule in these snooker games?

I find myself being ripped off in some games where this rule could help me and others when people just roll up to another ball.

Without this rule it's not really snooker as touching ball and free ball are all big parts of the game. What does everyone else think?

This has been brought up a number of times in the past and is the missing rule on here
unforntunatly i believe Nick said it would be hard for him to generate the code to allow this to work smoothly and reliably.

heres a couple of threads thats its previously been mentioned on...

touching ball would be easy enough to put in place, wouldnt it? only be like push out shot on 9ball?

Nick's post regarding the "Touching Ball" rule on funkypool...

nick said:
There is no touching ball concept on either funkypool or funkysnooker. Although it might be interesting, technically it's not needed on a computer game. First the ball logic makes it almost an infinitesimal chance that balls may end up touching (there's no dirt or other minor irregularities on either the ball or the cloth which keeps the balls together).

Why not again?

This addition would be the greatest addition to this online game. It's a real snooker rule that's missing, so it's good to see more and more people pointing it out.

This has been brought up countless times. A simple forum search would show the multiple threads created to bring the idea of this up. Oh, and also, why it is has not been implemented. Thats why...not again.. ^o).

I think the problem is that although many balls look as if they're touching, the game doesn't recognize them as touching most of the time. In the computer's "mind", there is almost always a tiiiiiny gap between them, that we just can't see. So you would rarely get a touching ball situation.

As annoying and as boring as it is, There is no rule in real snooker saying people can't tap.

Most of us are not computer programers, we are just players who would like to see a complete snooker game.

A football match without penalties and red cards is still a football match, but it's not complete.

This is a great site and a great game and we all love playing it, with or without ball replacements - free ball and touching ball, but I don't think it's bad to remind ourselves every now and then that it doesn't simulate a real snooker game to the fullest and that something is missing.

No, but if there is a touching ball the player must play away from the ball or it is a foul (push shot).

Aside from the game logic Nick mentions above, there is also the problem that not everyone is using exactly the same graphics card, OS, driver, browser, and monitor set up exactly the same way.

Only in that scenario can it work, as what appears to be touching to one person, may not to another with a slightly bigger screen size or better resolution.
