I wish there was a system where you could rate another member you have played with. I've just put another person on ignore, because he insulted my country for beating him in a snooker game. I mean what kind of human being are you when you're making fun of a bankrupt country.
Ratings could consist of a scale from 1 to 5 stars on a few attributes, like fair play, gameplay and attitude and appear on your profile next to your stats. There could be a ratings left and a ratings received tab for each player and an average score for every player, so most ratings would even out an odd rating made by a player with bad judgement e.g.
suspiria
Fair Play - 4.7 Stars
Gameplay - 4.3 Stars
Attitude - 4.6 Stars etc.
I've seen this in another online game and it is working pretty well. This would prevent the bad conduct and would greatly encourage good sportsmanship. What do you people think.

Like the initial idea. Perhaps you would have to have over so many posts etc. before you can rate so as not to abuse the system?
Edit: Following on from my first point, that would lead on to the forum becoming more popular and widely used.

would 500-1000 posts be enough as people like to deactivate etc.

I like the the idea in principle although it will take a lot of thought in order to minimize abuse. Also, care would have to be taken so that such rating is not seen as a 'backdoor naming and shaming' mechanism.

I basically love the idea but i think being able to rate other players shoud not be decided by having enough posts but like the newbie tag having enough games played e.g. 500 games in total.
People not posting much (me for example) would still like to rate others and if the numbers of posts would play a role the fourm might just get a spammers place just to be allowed to rate.

I also think that the posts restriction would be irrelevant, a player's rating would be the average of all the users' individual ratings for that member, so even a few irrational ratings would be cancelled out by the majority of 'fair' ratings.
I'm glad you all like the idea, snooker is much more than potting and positioning, it's also how you take a win or a loss and the way you play that defines you as a player and this system would be a way to assess that kind of qualities.

Unfortunately I don't think the type of player who may receive a low rating could care less and would no doubt just laugh.
I think the majority of players play fair but you'll always get those who hide behind the keyboard.
I get more irritated by the re-setters.

The posts idea was just a suggestion to have some sort of boundary. As obviously, this kind of thing would need to have a restriction of some sort. I believe a certain amount of games need to have been played to be a better solution before you could give opinions of peoples sportsmanship.

I think there are bigger issues than this to be addressed.
My biggest concern regarding bad sportsmanship is when players make no attempt to hit a colour when they are snookered.
I would like a ball in hand rule brought in try and stop this.

my bad
but just putting a like button would stop the users that just want to offend you having bad things put about you
for instance it could say phased (20 people like)

I don't care how bad of a sportman somebody is you typing endless rubbish is not going make me miss
You typing GG early is not going make me miss
But also people will start to play people on their rating and the main reason i'm against it is what stops you from giving me a bad rating for example you 930 rank I get a fluky red win the game your annoyed do I diserve the rating you will give me.. no! what happens if it happens 2/3 times then I will just get 'you lucky blah' and then you no i'm going give you a bad rating so you will do the same.
