I was thinking about how much of an achievement it is when you have a good rubn in a tournament by beating higher ranked players on the way to winning the final

i thought that maybe when every tournament started, each player could be put into a temporary rank order according to their current ranking before the tournament, so the highest ranked player would be 1. second highest 2. and so on

at the end when the winner is announce, if the 5th 'favourite' won then thy could maybe get 50 extra tourney points, or if say the 21st favourite won, they could get an extra 210 tournapoints

basically the one who wins it with the lower rank in the tourney the more tournapoints they get

lower rank COMPARED to everyone else

and also the ranking order could be shown on the tournament page, and maybe in the future, the favourites could be worked out according to form and high breaks

Why introduce an unnecessary complication that will, quite frankly favour resetters/habitual deactivators?

didnt think of that, but maybe they could only get a bonus if they have played a certain amount of games, for example 300-500 overall?

Also, if the lowest ranked player wins the tournament, they have already been rewarded by a huge pile of ranking points anyway which should be sufficient.

I know, but as I say they have already received a hefty reward and the extra tournapoints are (as I said before) an unnecessary complication.

well not really coz they must have done very well to win!
