Very few people bother with Brute Force attacks anymore, as captcha's are so easy to overcome these days. Nothing compares to simply having a good password and changing it regularly.
Not true at all. Brute Forcing is still a very popular method for hackers.
Captchas are not that easy to overcome... To bypass them requires optical character recognition which isn't very accurate at all assuming the captcha system is complex.
I think even adding it just as an additional security method would be very beneficial. Why not add one? It's not like it takes much effort, or slows down the site... There are no reasons to not implement it...
