thats one thing that annoys me, when players value changes a heck of a lot according to the reputation of their club, i know it should affect it a bit but not as much as it does! i found a genk youngster who had literally double the ratings of peter crouch yet he was worth half the value

Try and find Beckham's regen (assuming he's retired) he'll help you massively.
Try and pick up good players on a free, get rid of crap players to free up extra funds

He's worth 32m at the start considering you'll probs pay over 50m a season or two later.
