Hi, can the pre-reset stats be kept on someone's profile in some way. I am a genuine player who has never reset their stats and I am fed up working hard on my stats playing supposedly evenly ranked players to find out they are resetters when they kick my butt.
When you complain to them they often get insulting saying things like "get a life, it is not important" in which case why are they resetting their stats if they weren't trying to acheive something.
I you entered a golf tournament and lied about your handicap you can get kicked out so why is it allowed here.
Yes I do take my ranking seriously but I also want to know that I am potentially having a competitive game and not playing against a ringer.
Resetters defend themselves with all sorts of things like "you could be playing against a funkypool player new to here so his ranking does not reflect his ranking but I think that is not the point.
If being competetive about your own ranking is "sad" then I think it is infinitely more sad to get off on screwing over other rankings by resetting and hiding your own ability and rankings.
This could be avoided by displaying a new entry in profile of the players highest ID ranking over all the resets.

Treat every match equally regardless of the oppositions rank.

Newbie modification is there specifically for this reason, so you lose less ranking points when losing to a newbie.
The reset feature is there to stop people simply deactivating and going onto another account, removing it would solve nothing, and infact create more problems.
You can click the events tab on someones profile and see if they have reset anyway.

true try to think each opponent is a virtuoso or a friend.
i learned quickly that rank means nothing on this site and i used to see newbies as 'easy pickings' in the early stages but i got proved wrong.
i do agree with aaron in some respect that a Maximum Rank would be a nice feature to have but they can put their old ranks on their about me like i have

This might sound very general but think the people who take this site seriously are the minority. For instance, many of the top 50 on this site are regulars on the list. Its just a problem that can't be avoided..I don't think I could even be bothered searching every players previous ranks e.g. before each match just to find out they have reset. I think it would be a pretty pointless stat..

Make sure its first word is 'maximum' (alternatively: 147)

That's 3 words.

Just want to expand on this actually.
Firstly, what gives you the right to complain to them that are "fake newbies". People go on different accounts and reset for all sorts of reasons, and are perfectly allowed to.
Secondly, I can tell for sure that "fake newbies" get so much more abuse at them than they give themselves. 99% of people who complain in game to their opponent about this tend to break the rules by swearing and giving them abuse.

Aaron i'd just like to say that I support you here.
I will never reset and when I first joined the site I found the reseters as annoying as you.
That being said I don't think there is a good solution to the problem, your also find that most the guys that reset tend to have information in their profiles about previous records etc.. The ones that dont would just find other ways to get round it.
The way I avoided this issue getting me down was to bring my A game to every match and stop looking at opponents stats before the game. To be fair I think this technique has helped to progress my game also.

I've been registered for just over two years, only play orig and play for fun.
Obviously I try to win but my stats go up and down 50 slots on a regular basis, Mr. inconsistency
I also will never re-set.
I'll never be one of the greats but that's not my objective.
I'll never see a reason to re-set but it seems to be more common of late.
I like to play ppl of a similar standard, makes for a better game, but will never refuse challenges from the higher ranked players. They're good to watch and you never know I might nick the odd frame.
I will also play at least three frames and let the opponent know at the start of my last frame, just to be polite, I wish more would do it. You know the reason, loose the first frame to a lower ranked player and they vanish.
I always check the other guys stats before accepting the game and as you can get a pretty good idea of the guys history.
newbie 701
member for nine months
won 28
lost 16
max break 147
I don't bother.
As said above there is no current solution to the problem, that said could there be a separate room that only allows ppl who have never re-set.

How about re-set option every 12 months of membership?
It would give a better idea of your progress, even have another page on your profile showing your previous years stats!

Also another point. Technically speaking, someone can play 5,000 games of original snooker and still be classed as a newbie if they have played no ranked games. You really can't call them a "fake newbie" when they have played all them games on their account.
