I was playing a game with a member of a higher original ranking than myself. At the start of my frame winning 70 break he asks me 'why does it take you so long to take your shot - Ruler?'

I didn't reply, he followed that with 'I think so' and then 'last game with ruler using loser'. I didn't dignify this with a response and he left the game when it was obvios he couldn't win.

I don't use a ruler, do other people use a ruler?

And also, do you think this was just a put-off tactic.

Almost all the people on here are cool - it leaves a real sour taste in my mouth when I come across people that are abusive without provocation. Especially someone with a ranking of 895 on Original.

Firstly, whether or not people use rulers is pretty much irrelevant. It isn't against Funky rules to use one, so if people really want to then they can. Good luck trying it in a 20 second game though haha.

Secondly, there are many players who sadly go to any lengths to avoid losing games. Such is human nature that people will be this way on an online game. Sadly, unless their attempts to put you off actually break any Funky rules, nothing can be done as it is merely bad sportsmanship. All you can do is put them on ignore for future games.

...Was just thinking, has the concept of a karma/reputation/sportsmanship points system ever been mulled over?

I guess it would be very difficult to program and perhaps there would be an issue with those who lose sorely taking it out on the victor's reputation ranking, but it would be cool to see a bad sportsperson before choosing to play them.

It would encourage fair play but also I expect, add another gaming dimension to the already brilliant game. Probably too messy but just an idea.

it has been mentioned but due to the prospect of hitting negative if you dislike someone multiple times it never got considered. the counter would be each person vote once but has the ability to change to like or dislike (sort of like youtube videos).

for the topic they will always be bad sportsman/women sadly who will try and put you off at all cost, the higher ranked people tend to do it the most (especially on Arcade) but most is genuine. just need to use ignore and avoid playing him (unless its in a tournament of course)

Sore loser. Doesn't matter which game community it is the law of average dictates you will come across a moron every now and then. The main thing is you beat him, and by the looks of it he didn't enjoy it.

Yes there is the ignore function, but i would rather see an option to shut the chat window down, If there was no chat window there is never nothing to blame people from missing shots that way, even when people get breaks and you are on a break yourself you end up looking at the chat window which could put yourself off from your own break.

In some games i would rather have the chat window gone and have more table space.

Sounds like an awful idea. Open to waaaay too much abuse. Not to mention how funkysnooker would just become a popularity contest and everybody would be scared stiff to say anything other than polite niceties like 'gl' and 'wp'.

Doesn't it make much more sense to just put your opponent on ignore at the first sign of bad sportsmanship?

i used to use my mouse mat b4 turning the cue round to see if a ball would fit by another 1 lol seemed to work better than the cue thing and to do it in 20sec game is easy..if you cant use something to line a shot up in 10secs and 10secs to then figure out what spin and power then you should be playing funkysittingdoingnothingandnotthinkingofagamelikethis

i hate when some1 turns up with 1 sec of the invite to go....your winning and then both get dq'd coz you run out of time when you were there like 4mins b4 the other player......shouldnt be able to join a tournament if your in a game and once you do join shouldnt be allowed to join another game until youve played the tournament game. my silly opinion anyway!
