As I understand it. You only become Cup-tied if you actually play for a clan in the season's cup.

No, cup-tied means you can't play any cup matches all season.

You can play for Total Domination because you were in their clan.
If you want to play for Anger Management, you'll have to wait until after the transfer window. That goes for both cup and league games.
