I think it would be very useful for all new members before they play their first game of any type to have to before hand complete a tutorial for that game.

If I had a pound for the amount of times I had someone leave because they haven't understood the game in carom or power snooker is ridiculous, even had it in a game of killer not long ago.

What should be in the tutorial:

Carom
How to do a lag. (Explanation, followed by a clip showing a successful lag, followed by the player doing one.)
How to score a point. (Same as above explanation followed by clip, followed by the player doing one themselves.)
Break shot. (Same as above again.)

Power Snooker
Break off shot. (Explanation, including the rules of how many need to hit the cushion and breaker has 2 shots if nothing is potted, followed by clip and then the player trying it.)
Power ball (Explanation of the use of the power ball, followed by clip and player trying it.)
Double/Quadruple points. (Explanations of both and clips showing them in action.
Shot and game time limits. (Explanations of them both and the penalties incurred on a shot time limit.)

Can do it for all games but I believe this would give a basic understanding of what people are letting themselves in for and we would have less newbies joining the games without understanding and then just leaving mid way.

I would like to see a outline cursor on this game which is thinner in thickness than it is now, not that i use the outline cursor.
Anyone wanna make me one?

Just to add i know how to play carom but can't hit a run so would a explanation in carom really make a player wanna stay in a game if they are c rap? probably why they leave!

carom was done by me although due to music many may not be able to view so if i get internet back i may redo it. it is under carom demo in game shouts. alexo asked for it in help centre but was not done.

nice thought here and a video might be more useful to dislectic users of the site

newbies don't care about the forum, they don't even go to the help section to see what are the rules. you don't have idea how many people have been joined my game with the question 'what are the rules?'. then they find it hard and quit and maybe never come back to carom.

i like mich's idea. when a newbie enter for the first time the carom table he will optionally receive some basic instructions, this way maybe some people won't find it so hard from the very start.
