Although I always had an issue with this (on here and over on Pool), I've only recently noticed how bad the problem having just started to play Carombole so I thought I'd write something
The ball physics are all just way off. I know these sites aren't supposed to be a perfect simulation of cueball sports, but the power and spin just don't seem to work properly.
Firstly, with the power. If you play a shot without hitting any balls on the table, the power seems to be pretty realistic. But when you make contact with any balls, the power generated is just dire, you can't do anything. I mean go into a game of Original, with the cueball low of the black and try and split the balls. It's nigh on impossible to get the cueball out of the bunch - I find myself having to gradually split the pack to bring out two of three reds at a time (unless I want to rely on luck and just smash the pack).
Now with the spin. This just doesn't work consistently, I mean as far as I'm concerned this may as well not be here. I still can't work out what side spin does on here...I mean, try playing a shot with reverse side. It just doesn't happen. Screwing the cueball doesn't seem to take hold unless you play with full power. I mean a standard shot is to play (with bottom left/right side) to cut a ball and bring the cueball straight down the table. On here I'm going straight into the rail.

It'd just be nice to have a little bit of realism in this area. For me, it's akin to playing with a dead cueball, a slow cloth, completely dead rails and weighted balls... Just wondering whether it's just me who thinks this :S
I was going to elaborate further, but didn't want to be boring!

If you want to do something productive, hit a ball full speed from one end of the table to the other and time it. Then measure the diameter of the ball and the length of the table from the inside edge of each cushion. Once you've done that, try and work out if the cushions are perfectly elastic.
Message me the results and I'll give you something else to do .

Something we agree on

Okay, I agree that there is nothing strictly wrong with them..... But it just seems (to me anyway) that the affects have been toned down to a point where what you are trying to do with the cueball is not the same as what actually happens.
It'd just be nice to be able to play with things like check & running side, but maybe that's just me
