Thanks Sarah, but i dont like urinating in the wind as you always get some on you. Ill wait till theres a space somewhere i can get a game as part of a team and not nick other peoples matches.

Why are clan games not ranked?

I just cannot think of any reason for them not to be and there are many obvious reasons why its far better that they are. Anyone have any idea?

Can we have them made ranked so its fair for all?

nope sorry, League has always been friendly unless the opponent doesn't mind ranked.

While i'm runner (and have been for 6 years), i won't change it to Ranked, If the two players want to do Ranked or play at 90 secs a shot etc that is up to them.

I am curious why you wouldn't insist on ranked though. Apart from the obvious detriment to the ranking system of non-ranked games, wouldn't making all games ranked be much better from your point of view and avoid any potential argument as all games would be logged?

Think people are just used to it being non ranked really. I used too play some clan games on pool ranked back when i was actually good

The newbie status appears more on snooker though (especially me as i like to reset quite a bit) and that can be a put off as well especially if you lose to a newbie tag or even intermediate.

I don't understand that last bit. Surely its far worse losing to a newbie or intermediate in a friendly as that has effectively ruined your rank.

I have only ever played 3 or 4 friendly games (in the first round of the FTC/L), and I think I lost all of them if not the majority, and it feels like cheating as it meant my rank was artificially high, and therefore unfair to my next opponents, win or lose.

I know you want the entire site to be ranked but i made this rule six years ago and i haven't heard a complaint until now.

Some players (like me) don't like Ranked games so was made Friendly unless agreed by both players, that way we cover all angles.

Until Friendly games are removed then it will never be Ranked at default (unfair or not). If both don't agree it must be Friendly otherwise the game is replayed. If Friendly was removed then i would have no choice but to make it Ranked until then it will always be Friendly.

It is like the "gg" thing, people are put off by it.

"c) Do not say things like "gg wp" before the frame is decided, unless you are absolutely sure the opponent doesn't mind. Many people are put off by this. In case of doubt, saying 'gg wp' should occur when you are so far behind, that you wouldn't carry on for snookers."

I know you want site to be ranked but while i have control of the league, it my league.

Not disputing that at all, just don't see the logic, and most of all from your point of view surely it would make life an awful lot easier as all the games would be logged.

Its a shame its promoted as "friendly by default" as that is clearly not the case as was pointed out to me above, otherwise I would not have been tricked into playing unranked games and therefore creating the adverse knock on effect to future opponents.

As for the other thing, how on earth can someone be "put off" by something someone else types?!?

believe me it happens, i used to get put off by "gg" but i don't now but it is there in code of conduct just in case.

regarding friendly by default, it is unless the opponent agrees to ranked then it can be ranked.

it is your fault for not reading the rules, it has been friendly for six years, not going to change it because one player wants the site to have just ranked games.

for future opponents it isn't my problem, not going up to every new player and say "games are friendly etc", players should read the rules and if they don't it is not my problem.

If the opponent doesn't mind Ranked then play Ranked otherwise must be Friendly. In some cases players has accidentally invited to Ranked and either...

a) A player leaves and creates a Friendly room
b) Player B agrees to Ranked and play on

If b) then they can continue Ranked (usually don't) or the next frame invite to Friendly.
