Good point, but people that leave on a high break COULD just leave and use the excuse of "my internet connection went down" or "i had to go because of blah blah blah"
But since the idea has been described a bit more clearly, i think it's an ok idea.

I do see what you're saying, but people can just...pull the plug out. Then it could be disputed as genuine or not.

i dislike threads like this, they're so stupid. It's just people moaning about something that cannot fairly and will not be changed. This site caters for all, we can't change it to suit the minority that has a problem with a certain issue. why dont people try putting constructive suggestions instead of suggestions that cannot be carried out fairly. next you will be wanting moderators to look over every single case of somebody leaving a game to check for authenticity.
It just seems that no matter how many new features, or how good Nick makes this site, it will never be good enough for some people. I think if people have suggestions for improvements, they should be sent via contact us, this would save disagreements and general arguments. there, thats my suggestion for the improvement of this site. I'll just sit here and eagerly await the 20 counter arguments that come when anybody makes a new suggestion

im just saying you cant really just have a punishment in it because if you are geniune then its bit out really... they leave you win the game

This is why the locked in game option works so well. Nick already said its easy to impliment, it makes this thread a moot point and cures the problem of people leaving during opponents breaks.
A bit like the old 3 ball arguments, this whole thing will be forgotten after the next update..

I think the only wat to plausibly solve this problem is to allow a user continue on with their break after their opponent left. Couldn't there be a way of hiding the game from other users so that they can't see it and therefore can't join, while the game continues on until the break is over?

I really do think that this would be hard to do!

I think the idea is good. You must have a very dodgy computer to have more than 10% abandoned games! I think there does need to be some sort of punishment otherwise it is just going to go on and on.
Unless there is something like being locked in the room or being able to carry on with your break being added

Not according to Nick! From the update thread regarding players being locked in rooms :
And after all, Nick should know whether its hard to do or not!
(Note - this also applies to the pool game to prevent runout's being lost due to opponents leaving)

Good idea and easy to add. What do people think about being locked into the room? This would only count for competitive games (ranked and tournaments) - friendlies you could leave at any time.

the response is obviously a mixed bag, therefore you should all realise the problem cannot be solved amicably, please get over it! lol

if nick does make the rule if u have 10% abandoned games or higher u get banned or lose points, what is gonna happen to the people who have just started, if they abandon a game they will have like 50% or 100% abandoned games, so i like the suggestion of being locked into a room until the break is over, that way nobody loses

Exactly sean_paul.
1angel1 - thats how forums work, they're there so Administrators can take the mixed bag of opinions and make a decision for the good of the site. We all know how much Nick uses this, as is evident since poolsharks
In this case, its another issue which can be rendered n/a by intruducing the much wanted "locked in room" update.

Maybe it could be set for if you have more than 10% abandoned game once out the newbie status.

yeah that would be good but fact is what if you left in friendlies? that dont really matter? or if your computer froze and shut down? just seems a like 50-50 decision and if nick can add them for competetive and tournament games then it would be an excellent addition
