My question is why!!!!

Why do these 800lvls remake new accounts to play us lower levels and thrash us.

Its not fair.

we are split by ranking so we can have fair and even game. not so you high lvls can come along and give us a 70-4 thrash.

this isnt fair.

in all fairness these isnt much you can do to stop this.

but its dam annoying

People just do it because they want to. Some people reset their accounts to set them goals i.e getting a certian rank before the newbie period is over.

Also the newbie modification to do with rankings stops you losing as many points at first so it does limit the effect of the 'newbies'.

Exactly!! How many times i have said about fake newbies. He is SPOT ON. This is about the 4th thread all simular to sean_pauls original post on 'fake newbies'. If a guest plays as a guest on his/her same ip then it should say 'guest a/c'. And again same if a player who has deleted or reset. This is ruining the game

that option has been discussed many times. but whats the point when a person could just register a new name under a new email address?

yeah but your never guna get rid of all the options. personally, i would prefer a person to reset than create a new account because it means you know who the person is. obviously i wouldnt want either. but still

The reset button was introduced for a couple of reasons:

● This was to make the forums looking less messy as people would delete and create new accounts and post. When a person has deleted, it shows up on the forum's as 'deleted person' and this made it look messy

● Like said above, you still know who the player is and if they have reset.

Personally the reset button was a very good idea.

● I.P addresses can be blocked so it is unknown to funkysnooker.

● I.P addresses can also be blocked using a proxy anomoniser. Used them at school before to access any website i want.

● And finnaly I.P addresses do gradually change after a while.

Nope sorry most people don't unfortunately. If they did, it would make it easier.
The newbie modification:
if you play a newbie the points that you play for are reduced.
New user's are given a trial period of 100 games. During this period they are called newbies, and these 100 games allow the user to approach their correct ranking.

However as we are unsure of their correct ranking during this period we reduce the opponent's gain or loss in score.

This will prevent you losing a lot of score if the user is actually a very adept player, and stop you picking up a lot of points against a very weak player.

This is known as the newbie modification, and you can see this value if you turn on the stats in the options.

The maximum reduction is 80%, gradually reducing to 0% as the user approaches 100 games.

Ironically, newbies own scores are not effected by the newbie modification
Like i put on the other thread, the newbie modification makes sure the 'fake' newbie'saffect us minimally

People are always finding ways mate.

Can be possible if you keep quiet on the game. Not that i recommend it though.

They do, and we find them too

The reset option was introduced recently to try to cut down on users who delete/recreate the same username to reset their stats.

At least with the reset option, you can see they have reset.

As damee already explained, the newbie rank adjustment means that although you may loose, the amount you lose is greatly reduced so you are actually better off playing them after they reset than before!

The simple fact is that the player is the same, no matter what the number says. They could just as well be a regular player who only plays friendlies.

People enjoy the game in many different ways, and those who like to race to virtuoso in the fewest games/shortest time possible, have just as much right to do so as those who want to win tournaments, or get the highest rank.
