Great idea, should of thought of it myself
Got to say Massa (being a Ferarri fan ).
With this being the home Grand Prix for Mercedes, its possible that the McLarens have short fueled in order to ensure front row positions for their cars. It would take a brave man to bet against Lewis though as his pole position lap was pretty special being both smooth and composed (unlike Kovalainen who was very scrappy all afternoon despite getting third).
As for Kimi, he seemed to be struggling with the set-up but the race is a different story and he may be on a different fuel load (using Massa to hold up the Mclarens at the front).

Awesome drive by Lewis - Congratulations!!!!
That performance was Schumacheresq - Ferrari have a lot of work to do now (unfortunately) to catch up with McLaren based on this weekends performance, but there is a long way to go!
Well done also to Nelson Piquet jr - great second place.
Congratulations to Felipe for keeping our Ferrari hopes alive
Also, best wishes to Timo Glock - hope everything is OK

Schumacheresq? You really think so? His car was of a higher level to every other driver (Including Kovaleinen). Also he didn't make anything happen, Massa and Piquet basically let him through, why they didn't stay on the inside is beyond me. The only reason I can think of is they didn't want an accident and thought that because of the speed of Hamilton car that was the best that was going to happen.
Anyway, Piquet got lucky but the way he pushed when he realized he had a great chance of claiming a fair few points was very impressive. Definitely driver of the day in my book.
Those Ferrari drivers are under some serious pressure with so many impressive drivers out there that many would feel are more than capable of replacing them, especially after their recent performances, Alonso springs to mind.
My best wishes with Timo Glock also, He was impressive up until that very unfortunate accident, and hope all is well.
What do you think on driver moves now we are past half way?

Yeah, think so. Fair point that they could have made it a lot harder for him but, given that he was shown the gap, he went all out for it and controlled the passes well. Also, don't forget that Schumacher was in the best car (a Ferrari of course ) during some of his memorable performances. Kovalainen was in a supposedly identical car 12secs down the road in fifth somewhat reminicent of 2nd drrivers at Ferrrai during the Schumacher years.
I agree that Ferrari drivers are under serious pressure, but anything but Alonso! (I know thats only a personal opinion - just I've never liked the guy sorry ). I would prefer Kubica or Webber (not likely I know) or maybe even Hiedfeld.
As for likely movements, I'm still undecided. I think the picture will become clearer over the next couple of races.
As for Ferrari, come back Ross all is forgiven!

well done lewis great drive. almost ruined although ron dennis did correctly mention that the safety car could have come in two/three laps earlier.
hungary next. always seems a happy hunting ground for mclaren and with the fast technical turns towards the end of the lap looks like it could be again.
also speical mention foe piquet for an awesome drive. very much like his dad with agressionn. slightly fortunate although he needed something like this.
all in all a very good grand prix and onto hungray

Schumacher had the best car out there, just like Hamilton today. My point being that Schumacher made things happen while everything happened for Hamilton and does in other races.
The first dirver and second driver have completely different roles, I'm sure deep down you realise that, and cannot say they have "identical" cars.
Well done to him for taking the opportunities, like you rightly pointed out.
I would love to see Button stop trying to be the lovable little F1 driver and take up a better car. Maybe a bit of propaganda from his agents and pr's when they say he keeps refusing the faster cars year in year out, he needs to leave Honda, it's never going to happen, they're never going to be a Mclaren, Ferrari, BMW or even Toyota and Red Bull !!!
Alonso will be in a Ferrari I think. I don't think Kubica will be leaving BMW they are going well, very well, so it's unlikely unless they have a terrible season next year.

Lol- reading back it looks as though I'm argueing for a McLaren driver against the Great Michael Schumacher! My mates would be rolling about on the floor now considering the heated debates we used to have. Don't worry guys Michael is still the best ever, I haven't gone over to the dark side. This was certainly not the intention, I was merely commenting on the quality and similarity of a performance in a single race. Lewis has a long way to go to be in Schumacher's league but certanly is a rare talent and that has to be appreciated whatever my allegiance.

i think that honda are going to have a very good car next season. i think they are going the right way with the appointment of brawn, and with time maybe not next season but the season after that then they could be right up there once more.
doubt alonso will go to ferrari next season. i think that massa will turn his slide around and therefore be kept by ferrari. although it could be very possible for alonso to go there for 2010.
also with all the rule changes about the aerodynamics on the cars, resulting in small rear wings and large front wings, and re-introduction of slick tyres then it will be a relitivly clean slate for most of the teams giving greater oppotunities for the teams lower down the grid.

Ayrton Senna, reminiscent of some of Schumachers greatest?!? please I just can't take it anymore. He is the best out there at the moment, but just because he is the best at this moment doesn't mean he is as good as the greats of the past, surely? It's like they're all playing the press to make sure that because there is no Senna, Schumacher or even Lauda, the sport doesn't decrease in population and older viewers may make a little comeback to the armchair When Kubica, Piquet, Alonso, Vettel, Sutil and possibly Webber and Button are in cars as quick as the young man Hamilton and he has some serious competition then we will see.....
Surely you must understand my point of view? I'm just different

F1 isnt the same as it used to be IMO, Hardly any overtaking, the driver that gets pole is very likely to win.

Just to clarify,
Of course I understand your point of view, I just don't agree with it that's all. Everybody is entitled to their opinions - it would be a very boring world otherwise.

Yep I know you said that it was just some of the 'big guns' talking like that that does my nut in. As everyone now knows I don't think he is one of the best, is the best etc... the car is the main factor nowa days and he has the best at this time. So I can see that he is on the path to glory, but if he can keep going and come up with the championships and amazing victories is still to be seen as we all payed witness to his big chance last year dissapear..
Buddytobud, do you think Raikonnen desire to be the best has left him after winning that one championship? I think he said he doesn't want to win more than Schumacher and was talking about retiring at the end of last season, which was a shock! I think he is a class driver, but something is missing...

The Passion. He is a brillant driver. Although Hamilton's raw talent is greater than his. Whatever people say i still think that the Ferrari is the better car this year. Yes McLaren have improved greatly, great fora McLaren fan, i think that Massa and Raikonnen are not pulling their weight. Take when Hamilton took Massa at the harpin Sunday. That was awful driving, coming from a person with some racing expirence. They dont seem to want it as much as Hamilton.
As for Hamilton being up with the F1 greats, i agree with Sporting, he is not up with Senna and Schumacher yet. Although i cant stop thinking that he is got more talent than they did at this stage in their career. Schmacher won his titles when he had far better cars than any other on the grid. Look at the period between '96 and '00, hiscar was not thebest and he was struggling. Ok on another day he may have won the title in '97. for me Senna is greatest of all time and Hamilton is not far off it.
