Virtuso107 to break!

Without me seeing this i often get a random pretty stupid i know

The player to break is highlighted just like any other shot, thus making it more obvious.

when i create a new game it always says redrebellion's game 2 even if its the first game i make ive checked all other games to see if there is a number1 but nope. Is this down to the update?

If you pressed "quick match" it would create a game called "redrebellion's game". If you create a second game room at that point it would create "redrebellion's game 2".

Nick even if havent clicked on quick match it always creates a game called game2... will see what hapens when i click quick match and will get back to you.

Dont like to criticise the great efforts gone on here but...It seems to me that this update is a bit, clumsy. Basically adding things which make no difference to gameplay except hinder it, just for the sake of updating things since there hasnt been many big ones recently until now. I have no idea for the need of a quick botton to change between arcade and original as before it only took about 3 clicks of the mouse. The main priority on this site should remain the gameplay which was perfect before and did not need changed one single bit. And yes, I have read all the other posts on this thread before anyone says 'just get used to it'. But the matter of fact is, I already had to get used to this game once, why again?

Gameplay hasn't changed though. The only difference is a slight decrease in table size which is being discussed.

So what is your screen size? What game do you play, and do you have status bars?

The updates were added to help new users. Many were leaving before even playing a game, simply because they didn't know how. Adding the "Start Game" button meant new users knew how to actually start a game after joining it, as many didn't know you had to click the Rack Balls button.

The need for a quick button to switch between the two game types is again for new users. Many new users didn't even know there was a second game type, as clicking to play Original Snooker on the home page took you straight to an Arcade game.

Now, with the buttons to switch between at the top, new users can choose which game type to play.

This game looks tacky now, rather like pool. If i wanted to play pool, i'd play pool. I guess these changes were introduced to help new users, well i'm pretty sure the number of 'old' users will play much less now due to these shambollick changes. There was no need for an update.. keep the childish updates where they belong; funkypool.

Why will they play less? Just because of how the area around the table looks? Aren't you one of the people that were saying it should only be about the game play? If you think it should just be about the game play, then ignore the area around the table and concentrate on the game.

People say acting should be just about that: acting. But would Brad Pitt, Halle Berry and so on be as successful if they weren't good looking? If you go into a restaurant, it should just be about the food. But if you order a meal and it looks poorly presented, would you want to eat it?

These changes improve the presentation of Funkysnooker, the score is now obvious to see instead of being small and out of the way in the top-left corner. It is now easier to start a game with the "Start Game" button. The person breaking is now highlighted, instead of saying "so and so red".

All these add up to greatly improve the appearance of Funkysnooker.

I've spoken to a few 'well established' players on the site which say they arent going to play for a while. I'm sorry but comparing acting and funkysnooker is an obsurd thing to do. It was fine the way it was, and to be honest, every player has been struggling with the new layout. Also people who need to zoom to play orig can't so that decreases the number of people playing orig, when it is already very low.

Please read the whole thread before replying yoyoyo.

By removing the scrollbars there is now more space avaliable for the table than could ever have been using the zoom function.

We have had many compliments on the new layout, some of which is the implimentation of ideas put forward by users on this very forum.

Go to the New Game Layout thread on Pool and you'll see this very argument, with the "well established" players saying they might leave due to the update. Where are those "well established" players now? Still playing the game.

One person may leave, but due to the efficiency of this new update, they will be replaced by two new people willing to learn, willing to play.

Is there no way you can zoom then? Its the only way I can play orig because I have such a small screen that it is impossible to line up the pots.

zoom to 107% and you don't need to scroll anyway!

Edit: still no adverts on the game...

You say there's no need for an update, but there have been so many people on this website moaning recently that pool have been getting updates and we aren't.

We then get an update, and people complain about it, and some go to the same measure as you in saying that we didn't need an update.

Also, what's so childish about it?

I, along with the same 'well established' players above, see no difference in the game playability.
I'm sure I saw Spinner say that there has been 5 pixels of height reduced from the 900 pixel table. Think how small an amount that is, something that would barely appear as a dot on your screen.

Im getting used to it now (still playing rubbish but oh well lol).

Its a great update, gives the game a fresh look and it makes the game a lot easier to navigate around as it has been made simple.

Can't wait for the table cloths though that will be great!

Agreed. I did the same and now the table is at it's normal size (so obviously decreased by 5% after update). Leaves me unable to chat (while playing) without the scrollbars now but at least i can play as good as before.

it will prob take time to get used to and to find which one is best to use... and hopefully the cloths dont mix with the colours of the balls making it harder to find the edge etc..

Full credit to iamtheworst, he has put it all into words perfect. The update looks great and if you look as nick's post on page 5 it shows you how to move the status bar, witch increases the height of your table. Since iv done it iv hit a few cents and it's actually better than before in my opinion.
