Everton 0 v's 3 Portsmouth! What a disgraceful scoreline. Can you actually blame why players prefer clubs like Aston Villa over Everton? I can't, we are a poor poor team! Not happy at all!

And not much better for Newcastle... Really poor performance, and the poorest of the lost? Shola Ameobi.
Oh, and also that criminal Joey Barton made an appearence as well, thankfuly to a chorus of boos, don't know how the Geordies welcomed him though...

In a way i'm kind of happy to take a point away from villa, with the hostile atmosphere I was sure we'd get a kicking.

disapointing liverpool again... Not one shot on target! today. but a point is better than none.. and 2nd in table only down to goal difference. so no damage done.. Was impressed with ngog and hopefully he gets a start next week with torres possibly out with hamstring. ( not sure on how bad it is yet, scan tomorrow). I think ngog played better than keane. and what a great first team home start it would be against united at home!..
What you guys think of bullard in the england squad? surprising decision but well deserved. think he is a good player with the long ball.

villa park is our 2nd home, to be pushing for the top spots, you cant be happy with a point against villa home or away. Their fans weren't hostile, they didn't play well.
Disgusted with rafa atm, reduced to appealing for penalties that wernt to cover up for a striker who blatenlty is not worth 20mill!!! Lack of width playing 2 strikers on the bench, then to cap it off leaves babbel on the bench and brings on sloooowwwww benayoun. Lack of width makes us easy to defend against, when will rafa realise???
Also torres has picked up a hamstring injury, oh joy!

And redrebellion
1) ngog played poor i think, he had 1 deflected shot go over, but i thought he was naive in general play, his pedigree isn't good 3 in 18 for PSG. My main problem with him is would any of the other big 3 want him??? Cant see him playing for united somehow.... could say that with alot of our players though, with the exception of gerrard, torres and mascherano.
2) he won't be playing next week because of internationals for the next fortnight
Speaking of which what do we think to the england team??? No owen, yet again sticking with rooney (even though his record for england is disgraceful for a striker which he is, a STRIKER) Only 4 strikers walcott, heskey (OMG) Defoe and wayne
No woodgate, bullards in and rob green also.
Other than bullard im dissapointed with cappello, on his head be it to leave englands best striker out. Also feel sorry for crouch, never done anything wrong, left liverpool to get in the squads and since then hasn't been in 1.

Do a Little dance , Do a Little Trick. RYAN BABEL.
Only managed to see a online broadcast of the game, but did look like we played well. After 3 minutes when tevez scored. i thought oh no our defence has gone to pot and we are gonna get hammered 3-4 nil. but fair play to benitez. He obviously got the tactics right today and made the right subs. Would of liked to of seen ngog on today but right choice on bringing on hypia.
Well chuffed and we are top of the table for once! and ManUtd will surely be in the bottom half. Worse start from them in years. This is the first game i have actually been impressed with liverpool. Great result for us. Its what we needed if we are meant to challenge for the top. Still unbeatable this season

Newcastle United 1 - 2 Hull City!!!
I am absoloutely over the moon with this result, what a valuable 3 points! Took full advantage of the Toon's situation cut out the garbage and let the football do the talking. It was important that King got 2 goals for his confidence, can't wait till Daniel Cousin comes back from suspension and the strikeforce will be complete. Happy Days, games like this make you smile when you think the gulf between the two teams just a small time ago..

Just one thing Ste, you make it sound like Hull played well...
I'm not taking anything away from your lot, but Hull were poor, their passing was all over the place, and if they could finish they would have got 2 or 3 more.
But anyway, the point I'm getting to, is that Newcastle got out-played by Hull who didn't play well themselves.
Newcastle played horrificly, not one good thing can be said except for excellent commitment and effort put in from Owen, who didn't stop.
It was a lot about something different today, Mike Ashley. Yes we were there to support the team, but a lot of the game had Newcastle fans concentrating on putting our feelings accross.
There was one banner that three people carried around the stadium at the start of the second half saying "London Mafia OUT" which got a round of applause by everyone in it went past, even the Hull fans!
However, it got stopped by one of the stewards from going below the director's area.
But yeah, taking nothing away from Hull, they got the three points which is what matters, but that's one of the worst performances I've seen in 7 years at SJP from Newcastle.
Anyway, I'm extremely annoyed for both reasons- Such a bad performance and the situation Ashley has put us in!

Does it sound like I'm making excuses? If so, then sorry, there is no excuse for the way the team played today, but it's probably anger talking as well because there is a lot inside me at the moment!

After reading the match report it says both teams had good chances, and that they should have been taken, but it doesn't entirely matter if you play well as long as you get the result and judging by your post tom (you went to the game, i didn't) then chances should have been taken. :D you seem to mention it. But then you do have to think about players and their 'reputations', I've said all along, the premiership is littered with pre-madonnas and all it takes is a few workmanlike players to get stuck in and cut out the crap and you'll get the reward, cos if you try to take these teams on skillwise you will get slaughtered. Btw I've heard that Guthrie tackle was a horrific challenge, want to see for myself tonight.

Hull had plenty of chances, Newcastle had half chances. You deserved the win entirely, and you deserved to win by a much bigger margin.
Yeah Guthrie's was bad, was right in front of me and he went for it once, missed, then went in again and got him. Didn't go for the ball, just straight full power kick taking both legs.
Referee and his linesman (the one near my) didn't exactly have a good game either. Again, not an excuse, as even with Pierluigi Collina we'd still have lost, but in particular the linesman, he waited until the referee signalled something before signalling himself sometimes.
But hey, today showed what direction Newcastle are going in with a performance like that.
We paid a deposit early on last season to get into all cup games for last and this season for free, but we were coming out saying we highly doubt we will be going to the Spurs game after that showing. That shows how bad it's getting, because even just 6 months ago I'd have been walking to Newcastle to be getting to matches.
And yeah, entirely agree with these pre-madonnas, one of the main differences today was that the Hull players all seemed to really care about what they were doing, but some of the Newcastle players just seemed to be half-hearted, other than, as I said earlier, Owen who worked tirelessly throughout.

Get in, great perofrmance by Liverpool, very impressed (suprisingly so) of albert riera, provided width which opened up more space for the midfield and strikers to play in, and allowed keane and keyt to play up front, and not on the wings for a change.
After 2 mins and your 1-0 down to united you tend to think that a cricket score is on the cards. However after uniteds goal they were not a big a threat as I anticipated. I can remember a Giggs shot from far range and thats about it.
I also thought the ref bottled it a bit in not sending off Vidic in the first place, if he had of done, it would have saved Xabi Alonso a headache, caused by the cowardly elbow Vidic gave to him. How the ref only gave him a second yellow for it, I will never know.
Anyway back to the plus points, thought Keane also showd signs of improvements, and Ryan babbel continues to be a super sub (There's still sommet not quite right about him though, very RAW talnet).
As for now, we are second in the table, 6 points ahead of united, who have got chelsea in the next game whereas we have stoke, so we should get 3 points and at least united or chelsea will drop points... Happy days!

Ahh this must be where your going wrong Tom, playing the fans and not the players
You can't blame Mike for that
